In response to the national call, to expand the supply of higher education resources and promote the development of higher education, in May 2001, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Zunyi Medical University took the lead in establishing the full-time undergraduate independent college Zunyi Medical College Science and Technology College. In September 2001, the college officially enrolled students. According to the characteristics of the discipline and development positioning, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Zunyi Medical College Science and Technology College has undergone two name changes. In 2004, the college was renamed Zunyi Medical College School of Medicine and Technology. In 2018, it used the current name Zunyi Medical University School of Medicine and Technology. In order to better meet the needs of education and teaching and students' learning and life, and promote long-term development, the college started the construction of an independent campus located on No. 1 Road, Xinpu New District in 2017. The new campus covers an area of more than 500 acres, with a planned total construction area of about 330,000 square meters, and 210,000 square meters have been officially put into use. The library, teaching building, professional laboratory, multimedia classroom, canteen, student dormitory and other teaching facilities and public service facilities are complete to meet the needs of talent training. The college can share some of the facilities and resources such as laboratories and internship bases required for professional teaching and construction with Zunyi Medical University, which greatly enhances the soft power of the college. Over the past 23 years, through its own development, it has established a teaching staff with strong theory and excellent business skills. First, the college recruits and trains excellent teachers by itself, second, re-employs retired experts with high professional titles, and third, some high-professional teachers shared by Zunyi Medical University. Relying on the existing teaching staff, education and teaching quality system and various teaching and research platforms, the college gives full play to its resource advantages, adheres to the fundamental goal of cultivating people with moral integrity, adheres to the central position of teaching, vigorously implements the undergraduate teaching quality project, and creates a good learning environment and internship practice conditions for students. The college's talent training is guided by social needs and based on excellent education and teaching quality. It is committed to cultivating applied talents with solid foundation, strong skills, emphasis on humanities, high quality, independent learning ability, innovative thinking and social responsibility for the grassroots. The college currently has more than 15,000 students, including the Basic Medical College, Clinical College, Nursing College, Public Administration College, Sports and Health College, Medical and Health College, Intelligent Information Engineering College and Continuing Education College. It offers 26 undergraduate majors with a reasonable professional structure. It covers seven disciplines, namely medicine, science, management, literature, engineering, education and art, forming a coordinated development pattern with medicine as the main subject and multiple disciplines and majors. The college's graduates have a good pass rate in the clinical practitioner examination, oral practitioner examination and nurse qualification examination. They are generally employed in medical and health units, higher education units and public institutions in Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing, Guangdong, Beijing, Shanghai and other places, and have received wide acclaim from employers. The college has established internship and employment cooperation relationships with many tertiary hospitals, actively promoting high-quality employment for students, and the current employment situation is good. The college has trained more than 25,000 graduates, of which more than 75% are employed in primary medical units, making outstanding contributions to the economic, social and medical and health development of Guizhou Province. In order to promote the high-quality development of higher education in the new era, the college will keep pace with the times, implement the spirit of the national and provincial education conferences, practice the motto of "enlightenment of virtue, diligence in learning, and truth-seeking in practice", and aim to build "a first-class private ordinary undergraduate college with certain influence in the region, with medicine, science, and engineering as the core, and health care as its characteristics". We will continue to strengthen the three major strategies of "quality-based college, talent-based college, and characteristic-based college", carry forward the spirit of Zunyi Medical College in the new era, enhance connotation construction, promote industry-education integration and reform and innovation, actively integrate into the development pattern of Guizhou Province and Zunyi City, and contribute new strength to social and economic development.
