Shaanxi Aviation Vocational and Technical College is an independent general higher vocational education institution affiliated to China Aviation Industry Corporation Limited. The school has a history of more than 40 years, and has gone through the development stages of 0-12 Base Technical School, Shaanxi Aviation Technician College and 0-12 Base Engineering College, Southern Shaanxi Aviation Workers University and Shaanxi Aviation Vocational and Technical College. In December 2020, Shaanxi Aviation Vocational and Technical College and 0-12 Base Technical School were integrated into the new Shaanxi Aviation Vocational and Technical College. The college covers an area of 806 acres, with a total fixed asset value of 372 million yuan. The school is concentrated in Nanzheng Campus and Hantai Campus, forming a new pattern of one school and two districts. Over the past 40 years since its establishment, it has trained nearly 100,000 middle and senior technical and skilled talents and production and operation backbones represented by chief skill experts in the aviation industry, national model workers, national technical experts, and well-known entrepreneurs. The school currently offers 102 majors, including 38 higher vocational majors and 64 secondary vocational majors; there are 13,000 students and nearly 600 faculty and staff, including 112 associate senior and above titles, and 110 master's degrees or above. There are 12 teaching units including the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Materials and Construction Engineering, the School of Electronic Information Engineering, the School of Management Engineering, the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Modern Service, the School of Food Engineering, the School of Continuing Education and Training, the Basic Course Teaching Department, the Ideological and Political Teaching Department, and the Military Sports and Art Teaching Department. It has basically formed a school-running model of "one set of institutions, two brands, integration of secondary and higher vocational education, and two campuses". The college is an excellent college in the talent training level assessment of higher vocational colleges of the Ministry of Education, the third batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units of the Ministry of Education, a provincial demonstrative higher vocational college, a national defense science and technology industry military-specific occupation vocational education training base, a national high-skilled talent training base, and an aviation industry high-skilled talent training base. The college gives full play to the advantages of the aviation industry, closely combines education with the industry, the college with enterprises, and deeply integrates the talent training chain with the industrial chain, gradually forming the school-running characteristics of "relying on aviation, school-enterprise cooperation, and industry-university integration". It carries out a variety of "order-based, customized" talent training methods such as "unmanned aerial vehicle assembly and testing" and "aircraft engine manufacturing", and has established an employment base mainly composed of more than 200 large and medium-sized enterprises and institutions such as aviation, aerospace, shipbuilding, weapons, nuclear industry and railways. The employment rate of graduates has remained above 95%, ranking among the best in the province's colleges and universities, and has been recognized and praised by students, parents and the society.
