Shandong Information Vocational and Technical College is a provincial public full-time higher vocational college approved by the Shandong Provincial People's Government and filed with the Ministry of Education. It is affiliated to the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology. It is the earliest, most comprehensive and largest electronic information higher vocational college in Shandong Province. The school was founded in 1985 and was formerly known as Shandong Weifang Electronic Industry School. Its predecessor was Weifang Electronic Industry Vocational Secondary School founded in 1983. The history of schooling can be traced back to 1979. In July 1987, the school was renamed Shandong Information Engineering School. In July 2002, it was independently upgraded to a general higher vocational school with the approval of the Shandong Provincial People's Government. The school is one of the first batch of construction units of the "National Demonstration Software Vocational and Technical College" approved by the Ministry of Education, a designated college for the training of military sergeants, a pilot college for undergraduate enrollment in Shandong Province's "3+2" counterparts and segmented training, and a pilot college for independent enrollment of Shandong Province's demonstrative higher vocational colleges. It has been approved as the first batch of construction units of the Ministry of Education's vocational college digital campus, the first batch of construction units of Shandong Province's smart education demonstration colleges, and the first batch of Shandong Province's red culture inheritance demonstration schools. It has won the honorary titles of "National Advanced Collective of Information Industry System", "Advanced Collective of Vocational Education in Shandong Province", "Excellent Moral Education College in Shandong Province", "Green School in Shandong Province", "Civilized Campus in Weifang City", etc. The school adheres to the "service development as the purpose, employment promotion as the orientation", follows the school-running philosophy of "establishing trust with morality, strengthening trust with skills, keeping trust with one's body, and going far with trust", upholds the school motto of "thick morality, establishing trust, fine skills, and being fluent", and promotes the school spirit of "trust reaches the world, and the walker never stops". So far, more than 57,000 talents of various types have been exported, providing strong talent and skills support for regional economic and social development. The school is located in Weifang City, Shandong Province, the world-famous kite capital and national civilized city. It currently has two campuses, Kuiwen Campus and Binhai Campus. The total campus area is 763,536 square meters, with a total construction area of 282,997 square meters. It has 10 teaching departments (colleges) including the Department of Electronics and Communications, the Department of Software and Big Data, the Department of Digital Media, the Department of Intelligent Manufacturing, the Department of Economics and Management, and the Department of Modern Services, the Basic Teaching Department, the Ideological and Political Course Teaching Department, the NCO Academy, and the Xinrui Academy, with more than 12,500 students. The school has advanced and complete teaching facilities, with a net value of more than 115 million yuan for various training equipment, 196 on-campus training bases, 157 off-campus training bases, 266 smart classrooms, and more than 1TB of various digital resources. It has built a digital smart campus and realized the modernization of teaching, management, and service methods. The school seizes the development opportunities of vocational education, actively serves the national strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education, the strategy of strengthening the country through talents, the strategy of innovation-driven development and the major national strategy of the Yellow River, and sets up majors around the industry, forming four high-level professional groups with obvious advantages and strong strength, namely electronics and communications, big data and software, intelligent manufacturing, and virtual reality, and two characteristic development professional groups with deep integration of information technology, namely smart commerce and modern service. It offers 38 majors (excluding directions), including integrated circuit technology, modern mobile communication technology, Internet of Things application technology, software technology, big data technology, artificial intelligence technology application, virtual reality technology application, animation production technology, intelligent control technology, drone application technology, e-commerce, infant care services and management, etc. It conducts 2 majors of professional and undergraduate training with 2 undergraduate colleges, and conducts 12 majors of secondary and higher vocational "three-two consecutive reading" training with 8 secondary vocational schools. It has cultivated 20 majors supported by central finance, provincial characteristic majors, provincial brand professional groups, and provincial high-level professional groups, forming a professional system with scientific layout, obvious advantages and reasonable structure, which meets the needs of the new generation of information industry for high-quality technical and skilled talents in various fields. The school has a teaching staff with new educational concepts, high teaching level and strong practical ability. There are 654 faculty members, of which teachers with intermediate and senior professional titles account for more than 81% of full-time teachers, 126 teachers with associate senior professional titles, 331 teachers with master's degrees and above, and "double-qualified" teachers account for more than 72% of professional teachers. It has created 7 excellent teaching teams, including the Shandong Vocational Education Teaching Innovation Team, the Shandong Higher Education Youth Entrepreneurship Talent Introduction and Cultivation Plan Construction Team, the Master Studio, and the Provincial Huang Danian Teaching Team. It has cultivated 2 national technical experts, 2 provincial technical experts, 5 provincial teaching masters, and provincial excellent ideological and political teachers, Weifang Science and Technology Innovation China experts, and 17 Weifang Science and Technology Think Tank experts. The school insists on promoting teaching, learning, and reform through competitions, and the integration of competitions and teaching promotes mutual progress. The level of skill competitions ranks among the top similar colleges in the province. The school has hosted the "Internet of Things Technology Application" competition of the Higher Vocational Group of the National Vocational College Skills Competition for two consecutive years, and hosted 13 Shandong Vocational College Skills Competitions. In recent years, students have participated in more than 360 provincial and above competitions, and won more than 700 awards in total, including 13 first prizes and 31 second prizes in national competitions, and more than 390 first and second prizes in provincial competitions. The school actively builds a brand for the training of sergeants and establishes a sergeant talent training model that is compatible with the new quality of combat effectiveness. It has co-built the first provincial ICT college with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. to carry out talent training and industrial collaborative innovation around artificial intelligence, big data, 5G, and the Internet of Things. It has built two provincial-level vocational education skills inheritance and innovation platforms for integrated media communication development technology and intelligent interconnection applications, built a comprehensive energy service college and a cyberspace security innovation industry college, and built a Shandong Vocational College Teacher Practice Base and Weifang Intelligent Rehabilitation Equipment Engineering Research Center. It is the only national teacher training base for sensor network application development certificates in the province, and has carried out certification examinations for 32 "1+X" certificates.
