Shandong University of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine was founded in 1985. It is the first and only private medical university with a high reputation at home and abroad that features Chinese medicine and integrated Chinese and Western medicine education after the founding of New China. In 2001, with the authorization of the Ministry of Education and the approval of the Shandong Provincial People's Government, Shandong Liming Vocational College of Science and Technology was established on the basis of Shandong University of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine. It was included in the national unified enrollment plan and independently issued academic diplomas. It has become a comprehensive private university with Chinese medicine and integrated Chinese and Western medicine as its educational characteristics, integrating medicine, science and engineering, economics and management, art and other disciplines, and coordinated development of various majors. In 2014, with the support of the provincial government and the Department of Education, the college acquired 3,000 acres of land at the foot of Mount Tai on the basis of the Jinan campus to build a new campus for the university. The project was approved as a key construction project by the provincial government. It took only 14 months for the first phase of a project with an investment of more than 2 billion yuan, a construction area of 420,000 square meters, and 58 buildings to rise from the ground and be put into use, creating a miracle in the history of university construction in the country. Over the past 40 years since its establishment, with the care and support of governments and leaders at all levels and friends from all walks of life at home and abroad, the college has trained more than 300,000 graduates. It currently has 12 secondary colleges, including the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the College of Clinical Medicine, the College of Stomatology, the College of Nursing, the College of Information Engineering and Management, the College of New Media, the College of Artificial Intelligence, the College of Artificial Intelligence, and the College of Continuing Education. It offers 60 national planned unified enrollment majors, including Chinese medicine, Chinese pharmacy, clinical medicine, stomatology, nursing, acupuncture and massage, medical imaging technology, medical laboratory technology, rehabilitation therapy technology, optometry technology, elderly service and management, accounting, computer, tourism management, early childhood health development and management, logistics management, art design, and cultural relics restoration and protection. There are more than 20,000 students and more than 1,000 faculty and staff. It has won many honors such as the National Education and Scientific Research Achievement Award, the Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, the Provincial Quality Course, the Provincial Featured Major, the Provincial Teaching Team, the Provincial Teaching Master, and the Provincial 13th Five-Year Plan Traditional Chinese Medicine Biological Research and Development Base; it has undertaken many scientific research projects at the national, provincial, and departmental levels; it has the country's largest campus cultural carrier "Liming Art Palace" and a directly affiliated hospital jointly reviewed by the Provincial Department of Education and the Health Commission. The school's total assets have exceeded 10 billion yuan, and there is no debt. The school has a high student employment rate due to its well-established majors and advanced teaching model. The employment rate of graduates is above 95% every year (statistics on the employment rate of colleges and universities released by the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security), and some majors can reach 100%. The school vigorously carries out the integration of production and education, and school-enterprise cooperation. It has established student internship and training cooperation relationships with the Provincial Hospital, Qilu Hospital, Shandong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shandong Qianfoshan Hospital, Jinan Military Region General Hospital, Shandong First Medical University Affiliated Hospital, Tai'an Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and other units, and has established school-enterprise cooperation relationships with iFlytek, Huawei Technology, Gymboree Group, Ningbo Lingchuang, Tianhe Airlines and other units. The founder, Professor Wang Xianming, is the first generation of Chinese and Western medicine experts in China. He and Professor Tu Youyou were both members of the Chinese medicine training class for Western medicine doctors who left their jobs to study in the 1950s. He published many books throughout his life, organized experts to edit and publish the first set of Chinese and Western medicine textbooks for colleges and universities in the country, and made innovative and pioneering contributions to the development of Chinese and Western medicine in my country. The founder, chairman, and president, Professor Wang Liyi, is a retired soldier who has fought on the front line twice. He joined the army in 1970 and fought twice in the Guangxi front in 1979 and in the Laoshan front in Yunnan in 1985, and was awarded for his meritorious service. He has served as a deputy to the People's Congress of Jinan City, a member of the Jinan CPPCC, and vice president of the Shandong Private Entrepreneurs Association. He is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the Tai'an CPPCC. He has twice won the title of "Outstanding Communist Party Member" in the provincial and municipal college system, and won the title of "Advanced Individual in Poverty Alleviation in Shandong Province" in 2018. He was awarded the title of "China Industrial Model Figure" in the selection organized by relevant national units, and the title of "The Most Beautiful Veteran in Quancheng" in 2021.
