Shandong University is a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education with a long history, complete disciplines, strong academic strength, distinctive school characteristics, and important influence at home and abroad. It is a world-class university construction university (Class A). The Weihai Campus was founded in 1984. It is a multidisciplinary, open, and comprehensive university campus jointly built by Shandong University and the Weihai Municipal Government. Her birth pioneered the precedent of famous universities in my country to run schools in other places; her growth has confirmed the glorious course of my country's higher education deepening reform and scientific development since the reform and opening up. The campus currently has 13 colleges, covering eight major disciplines including literature, art, law, economics, management, science, engineering and medicine, with 32 undergraduate enrollment majors, and can recruit master's students in 24 first-level disciplines, doctoral students in 18 first-level disciplines, and postdoctoral students in 19 first-level disciplines. A multi-level education system for training doctoral students, master's students, and undergraduates has been formed. There are nearly 13,000 full-time undergraduate students, more than 300 international students, more than 2,500 doctoral and master's students; more than 1,250 faculty and staff, including more than 500 professional and technical personnel at the level of associate senior or above; more than 500 doctoral and master's tutors. The basic teaching facilities are complete. The library has more than 1.76 million Chinese and foreign paper documents, more than 300 Chinese and foreign electronic document databases of various types, and is equipped with RFID self-service book borrowing and returning systems, smart bookcases, 3D printers, audio-visual reading capsules and other intelligent equipment and facilities, and has built functional spaces for information sharing, immersive reading, learning collaboration, cultural display, and thematic reading. The campus currently has 145 teaching and research laboratories, 15 speech rooms and public computer rooms, 50 multimedia classrooms, 3 multifunctional digital classrooms, 1 holographic interactive classroom collection terminal and 1 restoration terminal in three locations of one school, and 119 regular recording and broadcasting smart classrooms, 4 seminar-type smart classrooms, 6 interactive smart classrooms, 2 micro-class classrooms, 3 simultaneous interpretation laboratories, 1 professional course production room, more than 33,000 teaching and research instruments and equipment, and more than 16,000 seats in multimedia classrooms, smart classrooms and speech rooms. Under the framework of Shandong University's integrated development, the Weihai campus adheres to the development plan of "one plan, two strategies, and three types of campuses", that is, to implement the "academic improvement plan" in depth, implement the "characteristic school strategy and talent-strengthening school strategy", and strive to build "a demonstrative campus for running schools in different places, a high-level campus that insists on characteristic development, and an open campus that strengthens international cooperation", and continuously improve the academic competitiveness, social influence and internationalization level of the campus, and accelerate the construction of a new highlight of Shandong University in creating a world-class university. Deepen the reform of education and teaching, and steadily improve the quality of talent training. The campus currently has 42 national and provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 18 first-class undergraduate courses, 19 excellent textbooks, 1 national teacher teaching development demonstration center sub-center, and 3 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers. In recent years, it has been approved by the Ministry of Education for 2 new liberal arts research and reform practice projects, 54 provincial teaching research and teaching reform projects, 18 provincial undergraduate teaching achievement awards, and 15 provincial various teacher teaching competition awards. Students are encouraged to actively carry out scientific and technological innovation activities, participate in international college student innovation, mathematical modeling, software innovation, electronic design, smart cars, energy conservation and emission reduction, foreign language proficiency, "Challenge Cup" academic and technological works and other competitions. In the past three years, 185 national awards and more than 1,100 provincial awards have been won. Focus on high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement, and deepen the strategy of academic development. With "the great cause of the country" in mind, we insist that education, science and technology, and talents are the basic and strategic support for the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist country, and strengthen organized scientific research. Based on the national strategic needs, it actively undertakes national major scientific and technological infrastructure projects (Zigong Phase II), deep space exploration special tasks, major (key) projects of the National Social Science Fund, national key R&D plan projects, and national talent projects. It has 16 national platforms, provincial and ministerial platforms, and key research bases, and has laid out 7 high-end think tank platforms such as Shandong University Institute of International Studies, Free Trade Zone Research Institute, and Blue-Green Development Research Institute. It deeply participates in international scientific research cooperation in the fields of space science, intelligent manufacturing, new materials, marine ranches, Northeast Asian regional research, and marine economy-energy-environment sustainable development research. It has built multiple field stations in Wendeng, Weihai, Chashan, Weihai, Lijiang, Yunnan, and Muztagh, Xinjiang, which have become important nodes of my country's ground-based comprehensive monitoring network for space environment. It continues to expand horizontal scientific and technological cooperation and serve the social and economic development of the region. In the past three years, it has undertaken nearly 600 projects commissioned by enterprises and institutions, and built 10 school-enterprise joint research platforms such as research institutes, research centers, and laboratories. The Weihai Observatory of Shandong University has an average of more than 10,000 science popularization visits per year. Deepen international exchanges and expand international cooperation. In recent years, the campus has established cooperative relations with more than 120 universities in 15 countries and regions. Outstanding students are encouraged to visit and exchange with world-class universities such as Oxford University in the UK, University of California in the United States, National University of Singapore, and Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea for long-term and short-term visits. Sino-foreign cooperative education and student joint training projects are carried out with universities such as the Australian National University to expand the channels for cultivating international talents at the undergraduate, master and doctoral levels. The campus has a variety of scholarships to reward students with excellent academic performance and has a complete national student loan, hardship allowance and work-study system to help students from families with financial difficulties complete their studies. After successfully completing their studies, students will be awarded a unified graduation certificate by Shandong University. At the same time, more than 15% of the graduates are recommended to study for postgraduates in "double first-class" universities and other high-level universities and national scientific research institutes without examination.
