Shandong University of Technology was founded in 1956. It is located in Zibo, Shandong, the ancient capital of Qi State, a famous ceramic city in China, and the origin of world football. It is a teaching and research university with engineering as the main focus, combining science and engineering, penetrating arts and science, and developing in a coordinated manner among multiple disciplines. It is a famous university with application-oriented talent training characteristics and a high-level university construction unit that Shandong Province has focused on. It is the first batch of national "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" pilot units, a national intellectual property pilot university, the first batch of higher education scientific and technological achievements transformation and technology transfer bases of the Ministry of Education, an excellent unit of national education informatization pilot, a university with outstanding contributions to the innovation of industry-university-research cooperation in Shandong Province, and the first batch of civilized campuses in Shandong Province. The school covers a total area of 3,600 acres and is divided into two campuses, the east and west (main campus). The building area is more than 1.2 million square meters, the library has a collection of 3.48 million books, and the total value of fixed assets is nearly 3.2 billion yuan, of which the total value of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment is more than 900 million yuan. The school has 25 teaching units and 25 school-level research institutes. There are more than 35,000 full-time undergraduate students and more than 5,800 doctoral and master's students. The school's disciplines cover 9 categories, including engineering, science, agriculture, management, economics, literature, law, education, and art. There are 3 postdoctoral research stations, 4 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 25 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, and 22 master's professional degree authorization categories. Three disciplines, including agricultural engineering, mechanical engineering, and chemical engineering and technology, have been selected as first-class disciplines in Shandong Province, and three disciplines, including agricultural engineering, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering (cultivation), have been selected as high-level disciplines in Shandong Province. Four disciplines, including chemistry, engineering, materials science, and agricultural science, have entered the top 1% in the world. There are 76 undergraduate majors, including 25 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites and 13 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites. 14 majors have passed the engineering education professional certification, and 2 majors have passed the second-level professional certification of normal education. There are 2 national teaching teams, 7 provincial teaching teams, 3 Shandong Huang Danian-style teacher teams, 1 Shandong Provincial Entrepreneurship Team, and 41 Shandong Provincial College Youth Entrepreneurship Science and Technology Plan Innovation Teams. The school fully implements the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, adheres to the "five educations" and cultivates high-quality application-oriented talents with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor. There are 2 national (virtual simulation) experimental teaching demonstration centers, 4 national engineering practice education centers, 1 maker space of the Ministry of Science and Technology, 30 provincial teaching platforms such as Shandong Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, Modern Industry College, Future Technology College, and Professional Characteristic College, 1 Shandong Teacher Development Demonstration Center, 6 demonstrative grassroots teaching organizations, and 1 curriculum ideological and political teaching research demonstration center. There are 12 national first-class undergraduate courses, 5 quality courses, 3 quality resource sharing courses, 1 bilingual demonstration course, and 33 national planning textbooks. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the school has won 60 teaching achievement awards at the provincial level and above, including 4 second prizes for national teaching achievements; 158 teaching research projects at the provincial level and above, including 3 national new engineering projects; 92 teaching competition awards at the provincial level and above, including 2 first prizes in the National College Teachers Teaching Innovation Competition. Students have won more than 6,800 national awards and more than 10,000 provincial and ministerial awards in various subject competitions; they have won 214 provincial graduate tutor guidance ability improvement projects and 189 provincial graduate quality education and teaching resource projects. The National Key Vocational Teacher Training Base, the National University Ideological and Political Theory Teacher Information Database, and the Shandong Engineering Technology Research Institute are located in our school. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the school has undertaken 1,776 scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels and above, including 537 national projects; won 235 scientific research awards at the provincial and ministerial levels and above, including 1 second prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Innovation Award, 10 first prizes in Shandong Science and Technology Awards, 7 first prizes in Shandong Social Science Awards, and 1 Shandong Cultural Innovation Award; 102 scientific and technological achievements have been transferred and transformed, among which the major invention of a new type of chlorine-free and fluorine-free polyurethane chemical foaming agent has been recognized by the State Intellectual Property Office as "a revolutionary and subversive invention, a major theoretical innovation and technological invention," and the patent exclusive license fee reached 520 million yuan, winning the Shandong Patent Special Award, becoming a typical example of high-value patent cultivation and transformation; the two technologies of nano-silicon and silicon nitride were evaluated to reach 140 million yuan, and the results were transformed by valuation into shares, filling the domestic gap.
