Shandong University of Technology and Business was founded in 1985. It was formerly known as China Coal Economics College. It is the only general undergraduate college of finance and economics directly under the former Ministry of Coal Industry. The then General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Hu Yaobang wrote the name of "China Coal Economics College" and changed it to its current name in 2003. The school is located in the beautiful coastal city of Yantai, surrounded by mountains and facing the sea. It is a financial university with strong economics, management and information disciplines, coordinated development of economics, management, law, literature, science and engineering, and is a national entrepreneurship education demonstration base, a project construction unit of Shandong Province's applied undergraduate colleges, a doctoral degree awarding cultivation and construction unit, a provincial garden-style unit, and a provincial civilized campus. The faculty currently has 1,401 faculty members, including 581 senior professionals, 529 doctors, 2 Yangtze River Scholars, 5 experts with special allowances from the State Council, 2 people in the "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program" of the Ministry of Education, 4 national excellent teachers, 3 members of the Higher Education Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, more than 50 provincial talents such as Taishan Scholars Young Experts, Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions in Shandong Province, High-end Talents of Shandong Think Tanks, Shandong Teaching Masters, and Top Ten Excellent Teachers in Shandong Universities, and 1 person was selected as one of the "Top 2% Scientists in the World". Two Huang Danian-style teacher teams, 7 provincial teaching teams, 12 provincial "Youth Entrepreneurship Science and Technology Plan" teams, 7 provincial "Youth Entrepreneurship Talent Introduction and Cultivation Plan" teams, and 1 provincial philosophy and social science youth talent team were approved in Shandong Universities. There are currently 17 secondary colleges (departments) for talent training, with more than 22,000 full-time undergraduate, graduate and international students. There are 14 national first-class courses, 26 provincial first-class courses, 1 national quality course, 1 national bilingual teaching demonstration course, 49 provincial quality courses, 8 provincial ideological and political demonstration courses, 1 second prize for national teaching achievements, 50 provincial teaching achievement awards, 1 "provincial experimental teaching demonstration center", 1 "provincial talent training model innovation experimental zone", and 1 "Shandong Province General Higher Education Course Ideological and Political Teaching Research Demonstration Center". A total of more than 100,000 graduates have been sent to the society, providing valuable talent resources for party and government agencies and all walks of life. The innovation and entrepreneurship education has achieved remarkable results, and students have won honors such as the most beautiful grassroots graduates in the country, the top 100 national college student entrepreneurship heroes, the national youth entrepreneurship pioneers, and the top ten entrepreneurial stars in Shandong Province. The school is a project construction unit of a famous school with characteristics of applied talent training in Shandong Province, a provincial entrepreneurship education demonstration school, the only pilot unit of the "Second Classroom Transcript" system of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League in Shandong, and a smart education demonstration school creation unit. There are 58 undergraduate majors in the disciplines, including 12 national first-class majors, 16 provincial first-class majors, 2 national characteristic majors, as well as the Ministry of Education's local college undergraduate comprehensive reform pilot majors, provincial characteristic majors, Shandong Province's high-level application-oriented key (cultivation) construction majors (groups), Shandong Province's ordinary undergraduate colleges and universities' application-oriented talent training professional development support plan project construction majors, Shandong Province's outstanding engineer education and training plan project construction majors, Shandong Province's education service new and old kinetic energy conversion professional docking industry project and other 23, and 45 B-level majors in the China University Rankings of China's Soft Science. In 2013, it was approved as a master's degree-granting institution, with 6 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points in management science and engineering, business administration, applied economics, computer science and technology, public administration, and control science and engineering, and 7 professional degree authorization categories in accounting, electronic information, finance, applied statistics, business administration, public administration, and law. Applied economics, business administration, computer science and technology, public administration, and management science and engineering are among the best disciplines in China by Soft Science. Among them, applied economics is a high-level cultivation discipline in Shandong Province, ranking in the top 30% in the country. Engineering disciplines are among the top 1% in the ESI global ranking. In the past five years, the number of national social science fund projects in scientific research ranked 189th among universities in the country, and ranked 7th among universities in Shandong Province in 2023. Nearly 100 achievements have been approved by the main leaders of the provincial party committee and government or adopted by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the central committees of various democratic parties. Won 2 awards for outstanding scientific research achievements of higher education institutions (humanities and social sciences) from the Ministry of Education, 1 special prize for the Coal Science and Technology Award of the China Coal Industry Association, 8 first prizes for outstanding achievements in social sciences in Shandong Province, and won 24 provincial scientific research achievements awards in the past five years. Published many high-level papers in academic journals such as "Management World" and "Science China". "Journal of Shandong Technology and Business University" was selected as a core journal (extended version) of Chinese humanities and social science journals AMI. There are 4 provincial and ministerial scientific research and innovation platforms, including "Shandong Engineering Research Center for Immersive Technology and Evaluation", "Shandong Engineering Technology Research Center for Internet of Vehicles", "Ecological Economy and Sustainable Development Research Base", and "Shandong Future Intelligent Financial Engineering Laboratory"; 5 Shandong Collaborative Innovation Centers, including "Green Finance and Low-carbon Transformation and Development in the Yellow River Basin", "Digital Intelligent Technology for Yellow River Culture and Ecological Protection", "Shandong Energy Economy", "Future Intelligent Computing", and "Financial Service Transformation and Upgrading"; 2 Shandong Higher Education Engineering Research Centers, including "Intelligent Sensing and Integrated Chip Design" and "Intelligent Perception and Control of Traffic Information"; 7 Shandong Higher Education Laboratories, including "Intelligent Computing and Financial Big Data", "Intelligent Emergency Management", "Intelligent Perception and Control", "Behavioral Economics and Decision Simulation", "New Business Digitalization", "Molecular Imaging Intelligent Processing (International Cooperation)", and "Intelligent Brain Computing Frontier (International Cooperation)"; 7 Yantai Key Laboratories, Technology Innovation Centers, Engineering Laboratories, and Engineering Research Centers. Cooperation and Exchange has the Shandong International Business School, the earliest undergraduate Sino-foreign cooperative education institution in Shandong Province approved by the Ministry of Education, which cooperates with Murray State University in the United States to implement dual degree education. The school is a partner institution of the "Overseas Training Program for Young Key Teachers in Higher Education Institutions" of the China Scholarship Council, and has the qualifications to recruit foreign students and undergraduate students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. It has established cooperative relations with more than 60 universities in more than 20 countries, including the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, Thailand, etc., and has carried out exchanges and cooperation with high-level universities and research institutes in China in terms of student training, teacher exchange, academic exchanges, etc., and jointly initiated the establishment of the China University Public Welfare and Charity Education Development Community and the China-ASEAN Public Welfare and Charity Education Community. Social services are closely connected with national strategies, regional economy and industry needs. It cooperates with governments, enterprises and institutions to jointly build special research institutions such as the Public Welfare and Charity College, Shandong Emergency Management College, China Third Distribution Research Institute, Common Prosperity Research Institute, Yantai Economic and Social Development Research Institute, Yantai Non-public Economic Development Research Institute, and Free Trade Zone Research Institute. It has established new think tanks such as the Coal Economic Research Institute, Social Stability Risk Research and Evaluation Center, Social Situation and Public Opinion Survey Center, Local Legislation and Government Rule of Law Research Service Center, and China Social Security Management Service Center. We have carried out research related to common prosperity, public welfare and charity, marine finance, rural revitalization, and the gold industry. We have cooperated with the China Social Security Management and Service Research Center to publish a series of blue books, including the "China Social Insurance Management and Service Development Report", and co-edited the "Blue Book on the Development of Charity in Shandong Province" with the Provincial Department of Civil Affairs. We have also initiated the establishment of the "Yellow River Basin Ecological Economy and Sustainable Development Research Think Tank Alliance". We have been selected as a member unit of the Shandong Provincial Decision-making Advisory Committee and won one first prize for decision-making consultation by the provincial government. We have deepened the integration of the school and the city, helped Yantai build a "public welfare and charity city demonstration zone", and cooperated in compiling planning reports such as the "Yantai City Rural Revitalization Blue Book", providing high-level think tank results and decision-making consultation for party and government departments.
