The predecessor of Shandong Urban Construction Vocational College was Shandong Jinan Urban Construction School, which was founded in 1980. In 1992, the school was renamed Shandong Urban Construction School. In 2006, it was approved by the provincial government and registered by the Ministry of Education to be upgraded to a higher vocational college. In December 2014, with the approval of the Shandong Provincial People's Government, Shandong Environmental Protection School was officially incorporated into the school. The school is jointly managed by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and is supervised by the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. It is a higher vocational college integrating full-time general higher vocational education and continuing education and training. It is the new building industrialization and near-zero energy consumption building production-education integration training base of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China and the Shandong Provincial People's Government. The school has also won the provincial labor award for enriching the people and prospering Shandong, the provincial advanced collective for science and education, the provincial advanced unit for education news and publicity, the most professional higher vocational college in the province, the top ten higher vocational colleges with comprehensive strength, Shandong Province's water-saving colleges, and the "Excellent Organization Award" for the Party History Learning and Education Knowledge Competition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. In recent years, the school has insisted on focusing on the center to grasp party building and promote development through party building. It has formulated and issued the "Implementation Opinions on Strengthening Party Building Work in the New Era", established the "12312" general idea of party building work, and carried out various tasks in a solid manner, achieving remarkable results. The Secretariat of the Higher Vocational Colleges of the Party Building Working Committee of the China Vocational and Technical Education Society is located in our school. In 2021, the branch of the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the Party School of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (Shandong Administrative College) was unveiled in our school. In 2023, the school party committee was selected as the cultivation and creation unit of the "New Era College Party Building Work Demonstration University" by the Education Working Committee of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China. The school party committee is the "Advanced Grassroots Party Organization in the Education System" and "Pioneering Grassroots Party Organization of Colleges and Universities for Science and Education to Revitalize Shandong" commended by the Education Working Committee of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee, the "Advanced Grassroots Party Organization" commended by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Party Committee, and the "Advanced Grassroots Party Organization" commended by the Party Group of the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. The school adheres to the school-running purpose of "cultivating Lu Ban's descendants, building beautiful cities, and creating a better life". Focusing on regional economic and industrial development, serving ecological civilization construction, and promoting green and low-carbon transformation, it has built a pattern of coordinated development of majors mainly in architecture, resources and environmental protection, and urban infrastructure. It has 7 teaching departments and 2 teaching units, including the School of Marxism and the Basic Teaching Department, as well as the Continuing Education and International Exchange Office, and offers 45 majors such as architectural engineering technology. It has established 4 high-level professional groups in Shandong Province, 9 key professional groups in Shandong Province, and 2 brand professional groups in Shandong Province, 2 key majors supported by the central government, 1 national modern apprenticeship major, 4 national backbone majors, 3 provincial modern apprenticeship pilot majors, 5 provincial characteristic majors, and 2 engineering majors jointly built in Shandong Province. The school adheres to open education, actively carries out foreign exchanges, and maintains close cooperation with more than 10 domestic and foreign universities in school management, scientific research, and teacher training. Cooperate with Woosong University in South Korea to open the major of architectural animation and model making, cooperate with Jeonju University in South Korea to open the major of environmental art design, cooperate with Sahmyuk University in South Korea to open the major of architectural design, and sign a cooperative school-running agreement with Budapest Metropolitan University in Hungary. Carry out "three-year and two-year continuous study" through-training with undergraduate colleges, jointly train students in landscape engineering technology and steel structure engineering technology with Shandong Jianzhu University, and jointly train students in modern property management with Shandong Youth Political College. The number of majors through-training ranks among the top in the province. The school innovates the talent training model of combining work and study with "two-way participation, dual industry integration, and dual training", and continues to promote education and teaching reform. It presided over the development of 8 provincial professional teaching guidance plans such as the national professional standards for urban gas technology and construction engineering technology, and 8 textbooks were selected as the first batch of "14th Five-Year Plan" national planning textbooks for vocational education by the Ministry of Education. There are 32 provincial-level boutique resource sharing courses, 32 provincial-level boutique courses, and 152 high-quality core courses. The deepening of education and teaching reform has provided strong support for the improvement of talent training quality, and has cultivated more than 100,000 outstanding students and a large number of skilled talents, including the top ten outstanding students in Shandong Province and reserve talents of Qilu craftsmen. In the past three years, our students have won 6 first prizes in the National Vocational Skills Competition and 9 gold medals in the "Internet +" and "Challenge Cup" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The school insists on the path of "industry-education integration, school-enterprise cooperation, and integration of work and study" to continuously improve its social service capabilities. It took the lead in establishing the Shandong Construction Vocational Education Group, which is the first batch of demonstration vocational education group cultivation units in the country and the national housing and urban-rural construction industry vocational training base. Facing the construction and environmental protection industries, it helps new infrastructure and organizes training on smart construction, radiation safety and protection, with a total number of more than 10,000 people trained each year. There is currently one passive low-energy green building technology collaborative innovation center recognized by the Ministry of Education, as well as provincial-level university engineering technology research and development centers and prefabricated building industry bases. Nine industrial colleges have been established, including China Construction Green College and Huawei Artificial Intelligence College; two high-level teaching, scientific research and innovation platforms, namely the Medical and Health Design Center and the Underground Space Engineering Technology Research Institute, have been jointly built with enterprises. A total of 138,000 square meters of practical training and internship sites, 537 practical training bases, and a vocational skills appraisal station have been built, which can identify 18 types of work. In August 2022, the school successfully hosted the New Building Industrialization and Green Smart Construction Seminar. Lu Xin, President of the China Vocational Education Society and former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, Li Shucai, President of Shandong University, Wang Fuming, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Ma Jun, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and leaders and experts from the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Department of Education jointly unveiled the "New Building Industrialization and Near-Zero Energy Consumption Building Industry-Education Integration Base" and "Shandong Urban Construction Branch of the Dam Road Engineering Hospital", which have received widespread attention from the society and the industry. The school attaches great importance to educating people with culture and educating people with culture. Scientifically constructing the "four-in-one" excellent traditional Chinese cultural education system, creating a characteristic cultural brand of urban construction, and taking the lead in establishing the China Vocational Education Society Excellent Traditional Chinese Cultural Inheritance and Development Research Institute. In 2018, the school was recognized by the Ministry of Education's Vocational College Cultural Quality Teaching Committee as one of the first 10 national campus culture construction demonstration bases. In 2019, the school's Chinese Ancient Architecture Culture and Construction Skills Inheritance Base was selected as the Shandong Province Colleges and Universities Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Inheritance Base. In 2020, the school was rated as a "Vocational College Intangible Cultural Heritage Education Inheritance Demonstration Base" by the Ministry of Education's Vocational College Cultural Quality Teaching Committee, and was rated as the first "Construction Industry Culture Construction Demonstration Unit" by the China Construction Education Association. In 2022, the Education Department announced the first batch of "Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Inheritance Demonstration Schools" and the first batch of provincial green schools in the province. Our school was successfully selected and is at the forefront of vocational colleges in the province. In April 2023, the school successfully held the launching ceremony of the "Great Country Craftsmen Entering Campus" activity of the Ministry of Education's Career Development Committee and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, and unveiled the establishment of "Master Liu Gengsheng Studio" and "Master Chen Yuhang Studio".
