Shanghai Agricultural and Forestry Vocational and Technical College was established in April 2002 on the basis of Shanghai Agricultural School, and its history can be traced back to 1947. The college is the only agricultural college in Shanghai, one of the first batch of modern apprenticeship pilot colleges of the Ministry of Education, a high-level vocational college and professional group construction unit in Shanghai, and a pilot college of a five-year new vocational college. It is a national civilized unit and a civilized campus in Shanghai. The college promotes the school motto of "respecting agriculture and enjoying farming for endless life", adheres to the school-running purpose of "serving agriculture and establishing a school with characteristics", aims to build a first-class agricultural and forestry vocational college in the country, and is committed to building a modern urban agriculture and cultivating high-quality agricultural craftsmen who "understand one thing and love two things". The college currently has three campuses: Songjiang Headquarters, Pudong Training Base, and Songjiang Maogang Training Base, covering an area of 579 acres, and 240 acres are leased for a long time. There are nearly 5,300 students and 339 faculty and staff, and nearly 60% of them are agricultural students. The college has 8 teaching departments, including the Department of Plant Science and Technology, the Department of Animal Science and Technology, the Department of Biomedicine and Health, the Department of Digital Economy and Creativity, the Department of Smart Agricultural Engineering, the Basic Department, the School of Marxism, and the School of Continuing Education. It offers 23 higher vocational majors, 7 secondary and higher vocational majors, 3 five-year majors, and 2 high school and undergraduate majors. Four professional groups, namely urban modern horticulture, urban veterinary medicine, biomedicine and health, and controllable agriculture, have been selected as Shanghai's high-level professional groups. It has established 3 industrial colleges, 1 municipal industry-education consortium, 2 industry-education integration communities, and 1 innovation and entrepreneurship college to explore innovative talent training models. It currently has 1 national-level vocational education teacher teaching innovation team, 1 national-level curriculum ideological and political teaching team, and 12 Shanghai-level teaching (innovation) teams. It has built 8 national-level courses and 33 Shanghai-level courses. It has edited 9 national-level planned textbooks. In the past five years, the college has adhered to the Party building to lead the moral education and talent cultivation, completed the construction of one "National Model Branch for Party Building Work" of the Ministry of Education, and added one "National Model Branch for Party Building Work" project of the Ministry of Education; completed the construction of one "Double Leaders" Teacher Party Branch Secretary Studio in the municipal education and health system, and won two "Model Branch for Party Building Work" projects and one "One Hundred Student Model Branch" project in the municipal education and health system, and won one title of "Advanced Grassroots Party Organization" in the municipal education and health system. One teacher was named an outstanding Communist Party member in the municipal education and health system, and one teacher was named an outstanding party worker in Shanghai. The college won 1 second prize for national teaching achievements and 7 teaching achievements in Shanghai (including 1 special prize); 4 awards in the National Vocational College Skills Competition Teacher Teaching Ability Competition; 6 awards in the Shanghai University Young Teachers Teaching Competition (including 1 special prize, 2 first prizes, 1 second prize, and 2 third prizes (undergraduate group)); and won 1 special prize (first place), 1 first prize (first place), and 1 second prize in the first Shanghai Course Ideological and Political Teaching Design Exhibition. One national technical expert, one Shanghai technical expert, one Shanghai teaching expert, one Shanghai "Four Haves" good teacher and two nomination awards were awarded, and two Shanghai May 1st Labor Medals were awarded. Zhangjiang Vocational Education Master Studio, Lv Mingli Skill Master Studio, and Hua Zhimin Vocational Education Master Studio were approved as municipal studios. Teacher Zhang Weiwei was selected into the New Era Vocational School Master (Master Craftsman) Training Program. Students have won 70 awards in skill competitions at or above the municipal level, including 1 Excellence Award in the Flower Art Project of the 46th World Skills Competition, 1 Gold Award and 1 Excellence Award in the First Vocational Skills Competition of the People's Republic of China, and more than 10 awards in the National Vocational School Skills Competition (including 4 first prizes). The college has been awarded the title of National Model Greening Unit, Shanghai Characteristic Vocational College, Shanghai Safe Demonstration Unit, Shanghai Water Conservation Demonstration (Benchmark) School, Shanghai Garden Unit, Shanghai Advanced Unit for Conscription, Shanghai Green School, and Shanghai University Graduates "Three Support and One Assistance" Program Advanced Collective. The college's training base is a national agricultural Internet of Things demonstration base and a national youth agricultural science demonstration base.
