Shanghai Aurora Vocational College is a full-time general college approved by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and registered with the Ministry of Education of China. In 1903, Mr. Ma Xiangbo, a famous educator, founded "China's first private university-Aurora University"; in 1984, Ms. Zhang Huili founded "Aurora Education" by inheriting the educational philosophy of the pioneer of patriotic education. After completing the initial exploration of private education, Zhang Huili did not forget her original intention and focused on organizing higher education, becoming one of the pioneers in the development of higher education in my country after the reform and opening up. The college adheres to the school motto advocated by Mr. Ma Xiangbo, "advocating science, focusing on literature and art, and not talking about doctrine", and has cultivated a good teaching style, learning style and school spirit. The school-running level and talent training quality are highly recognized by the society, and "Aurora Education" is a "Famous Trademark in Shanghai". In 2019, our school became the only private school in Shanghai that has obtained a five-year consistent school system, and it is also one of the six private high-quality vocational colleges that have obtained the qualification for expansion. In 2018, according to the "Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on Amending the Law of the People's Republic of China on Promoting Private Education" and the "Implementation Rules for Classification Registration of Private Schools", in order to facilitate the development of the school, Aurora chose a for-profit school and will run the school into a public welfare, non-profit, flexible mechanism and system, school-enterprise cooperation, and a characteristic private higher vocational college integrating production and education. The college has 2 central financial support training centers, 23 experimental centers, 3 municipal excellent teaching teams, and won the second and third prizes of Shanghai Teaching Achievements, 4 Shanghai Municipal Education Commission teaching highlands, 8 municipal quality courses, 5 Shanghai key majors, 3 backbone majors of the Ministry of Education, 9 training centers, 109 on-campus training rooms (covering all majors and supported by special funds from the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission), 175 off-campus training bases, etc. The college has built a food nutrition and testing training center, a mechanical and electrical training center, an international business training center, a news broadcasting training center, a numerical control technology training center, and an Internet of Things technology training center, 2 central financial support training centers, 4 Shanghai Municipal Education Commission teaching highlands, 23 experimental centers, 109 training rooms, covering all majors and supported by special funds from the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. In 2019, Aurora implemented the Shanghai Private College Party Building and Ideological and Political Work Innovation Project and built the only Shanghai Private College Mental Health Education Training Base in the country. In 2018, it won the first, second, and third prizes for Shanghai Teaching Achievements, 2 municipal excellent teaching teams, 7 municipal quality courses, 5 Shanghai key majors, and 11 school-enterprise cooperation professional projects. The college adheres to the employment-oriented approach, highlights key points, and promotes the connection between professional settings and social needs. The college currently has 5 secondary colleges and 31 majors, including Public Health and Nursing, Intelligent Engineering, Economic Management, Humanities and Education, and Oriental Film, as well as an International Exchange College, a Continuing Education College, and a Marxism College. The college has a stable team of teachers with both moral integrity and talent. More than 30% of full-time teachers have senior professional titles, and the proportion of "double-qualified" teachers is relatively high. Nearly 100 teachers have been trained abroad. The college is unique in psychological counseling and moral education. Huang Xijian is currently the party secretary and professor of Aurora Vocational College. He is a famous teacher of mental health education in Shanghai, the honorary president and director of the expert committee of the Shanghai University Psychological Counseling Association, and the deputy director of the National College Student Psychological Counseling Professional Committee. The college has always attached great importance to the construction of practical training and experimental bases. The college has built an area of 50 mu "Aurora Chuanggu" with a construction area of more than 30,000 square meters; in cooperation with the Shanghai Lingang Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Center, it enjoys the special preferential tax policies of Lingang and the dual support of the entrepreneurial fund provided by the Aurora Education Foundation, providing a stage for college students' entrepreneurship and innovation. The college implements an international development strategy, aiming to cultivate technical and skilled talents with international vision and familiarity with international rules and local talents needed for the overseas development of Chinese enterprises. So far, it has established exchange and cooperation relations with more than a dozen foreign colleges and universities and educational institutions. In 2015, the Ministry of Education approved the cooperation with California Baptist University to run the "Internet of Things Application Technology" major. In 2018, the Ministry of Education approved the cooperation with East-West University to run the "Drama and Film Performance" major. In the same year, it was approved to cooperate with Siena Hertz University in the United States to run the "Art Design" major.
