Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance is a public full-time general college with distinctive accounting and financial characteristics. It was formed by the merger of the former Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and the former Shanghai Finance University in June 2016. The name "Lixin" comes from the "Analects of Confucius" "The people cannot stand without trust". The school originated from the Lixin Education Business founded by Mr. Pan Xulun, a famous educator, accountant and "Father of Modern Accounting in China" in 1928. In its more than 90 years of history, the school has been praised by the industry as one of the birthplaces of modern accounting education in China and the cradle of future financiers. In 2011, the school obtained the qualification to train postgraduates with a professional degree in auditing. In 2018, the school was listed as a pilot university for the construction of high-level local applied universities in Shanghai. In 2022, the school became the first local financial and economic college in the country to be accredited by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). The school currently has three campuses on Shangchuan Road, Wenxiang Road and Zhongshan West Road, covering an area of more than 1,200 acres. The new campus on Gutang Road is under construction. There are more than 18,000 full-time students, including more than 360 professional master's students. Students have good employment and have been rated as "National University with Typical Experience in Graduate Employment" by the Ministry of Education. The school adheres to the fundamental task of cultivating people with morality and cultivating high-quality applied talents with "integrity, practical ability, innovation awareness, and international vision", and constantly demonstrates the school-running characteristics of "integrity-based, learning and experience-based". There are 15 secondary colleges and 39 undergraduate majors. It has 2 national characteristic majors, 1 national talent training model innovation experimental zone (accounting), 9 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 10 Shanghai first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 3 Shanghai-level professional comprehensive reform pilot undergraduate majors, and 13 Shanghai-level applied undergraduate pilot majors. The school is a standing director unit of the China Association for Promoting Industry-University-Research Cooperation, a standing director unit of the China School-Enterprise Collaborative Industry-University-Research Innovation Alliance, and the first batch of "overall pilot schools" for the ideological and political education and teaching reform of Shanghai universities. The school's ideological and political teaching research center was rated as the Shanghai Ideological and Political Teaching Research Demonstration Center. The virtual teaching and research section of finance major was selected into the pilot list of virtual teaching and research section construction of the Ministry of Education. In 2018, the school passed the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education and was selected into the first batch of "Shanghai Higher Education First-Class Undergraduate Construction Leading Plan". The school insists on taking talents as the first resource and constantly improving the level of the teaching staff. There are more than 1,630 faculty and staff, including more than 1,240 full-time teachers, more than 460 senior professional titles, more than 700 teachers with doctoral degrees, more than one-third of full-time teachers with overseas study experience and study abroad background, and more than half of teachers with "dual-qualified" qualifications. The school has also hired a group of influential guest and part-time professors in the industry and academia. In 2021, the school was approved as the "Shanghai Pudong New Area Postdoctoral Innovation and Practice Base". In 2023, the school was selected as the "Dual-qualified" teacher training base for vocational education in Shanghai. The school insists on taking scientific research as the source of school development and constantly improves the level of service to the economy and society. Guided by the construction of first-class disciplines, the school builds a discipline development system that meets the needs of Shanghai's modern service industry and Shanghai's international financial center. It is based on the discipline layout of coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as economics, management, science, law, and literature. It gives equal importance to the three disciplines of economics, management, and science, and focuses on the construction of four first-level disciplines: business administration, applied economics, statistics, and Marxist theory. With accounting and finance as the core, it promotes the deep cross-integration of economic management disciplines with computer science, statistics, law, literature and other disciplines. Business administration and applied economics were selected as Class I and Class II plateau disciplines of Shanghai universities respectively. There are currently 1 Shanghai Social Science Innovation Research Base, 2 Shanghai University Think Tanks, 6 Shanghai Municipal Research Institutions (Platforms), and 2 Shanghai Municipal Key Modern Industrial College Construction Projects. The published and publicly issued "Accounting and Economic Research" was selected as a CSSCI source journal. The school insists on promoting cultural inheritance and innovation, and vigorously cultivates and practices the core socialist values. Deeply cultivate the brand of integrity culture, and initiate the establishment of the National University Integrity Culture Education Alliance. Deepen the construction of a civilized campus, and has won the "Shanghai Civilized Unit" and "Shanghai Civilized Campus" many times. We promote the history and culture of accounting and have built the world's first accounting museum (China Accounting Museum). We insist on the five-pronged approach to education. The Shanghai School Art Education Development Evaluation Center and the Shanghai School Sports Evaluation Center have been established in our school. The school's Xinghai Art Troupe has won the first prize in the National College Student Art Exhibition for many times. The fencing and women's football teams have been approved as Shanghai's high-level sports teams. Taekwondo, rowing and dragon boat racing have become the school's characteristic sports. The school insists on open education and deepens international exchanges and cooperation. We have established cooperative relations with more than 100 universities and institutions at home and abroad, cooperated with Denmark's IBA International Business Academy to host a Confucius Institute, cooperated with the New Jersey Institute of Technology in the United States to carry out a Sino-foreign cooperative education project for undergraduates in financial engineering (financial technology), and cooperated with EU universities to carry out the Erasmus+ teacher and student mobility program. We have joined the China-Central and Eastern European University Association, the China-Russia Economic University Alliance, the Southeast European and Black Sea Economic University Association and the Sino-Foreign Financial Education Alliance.
