The school was still managed by Shanghai Shipping (Group) Company, which is affiliated to the group. ● In 2000, the State Council implemented the reform of the education system. The Ministry of Transport officially transferred Shanghai Maritime Workers University, Shanghai Maritime School and Shanghai Maritime Technical School to the local government and affiliated them to China Shipping (Group) Company. After consultation between the group and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, it was decided that the three schools would still be run by the group, maintain the original academic education function, and the teaching business would be under the leadership of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. ● In 2001, with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the consent of the Ministry of Education, Shanghai Maritime Workers University was transformed from an adult college to a general college of Shanghai Maritime Vocational and Technical College. Shanghai Maritime Vocational College and Shanghai Maritime School implement "two brands, one team", and are run by China Shipping (Group) Company, managed by Shanghai Shipping (Group) Company, and the education business is led by the Municipal Education Commission. ● Since 2002, the college has been awarded the title of "Shanghai Civilized Unit" for 14 consecutive years; it has been rated as "Shanghai Advanced Vocational and Technical Education Unit" and "Advanced Collective of Transportation Education" by Shanghai Municipal People's Government and Ministry of Transport for three consecutive times; and it has been selected as one of the "Ten Demonstration Vocational Colleges in Shanghai". ● In 2004, China Shipping (Group) Company China Shipping International Ship Management Co., Ltd. was established, and the two schools were placed under the management of China Shipping International Ship Management Co., Ltd. ● In 2011, China Shipping (Group) Company established the Party School, and the cadre training function of the college was transferred to the Group Party School. ● In 2012, the college was included in the "Shanghai Characteristic Higher Vocational College Construction Project" and Shanghai High-skilled Talent Training Base by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and won the National Outstanding Contribution Award for Skilled Talent Training in the same year. ● In 2016, China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company and China Shipping (Group) Company were reorganized to form China Ocean Shipping Group Co., Ltd., and the organizer of the college was changed to China Ocean Shipping Group Co., Ltd. ● In 2018, China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited reformed its crew management system and established COSCO Shipping Crew Management Co., Ltd. based on the former China Shipping International Ship Management Co., Ltd., which also manages the college. ● In 2020, COSCO Shipping Group integrated its educational resources and established China COSCO Shipping University (later renamed China COSCO Shipping Talent Development Institute) to manage the college. ● In 2022, the college's shipping management major was selected into the list of high-level higher vocational professional clusters in Shanghai. ● In 2023, the group's educational resource reform entered a critical stage of "restarting, deepening, and improving". Under the guidance of the "one school, three institutes, and one branch" and "dual-brand vocational education" school-running pattern and development strategy of the Talent Development Institute, the college will deepen reforms, innovate development, focus on academic education, group employee training, and local service management functions, and enable the group to build a world-class shipping technology enterprise.
