The college was established in 2004 by merging three secondary vocational schools, namely Shangrao Agricultural School, Shangrao Industrial Vocational School and Jiangxi Literature and Art School Shangrao Branch. In 2015, Jiangxi Phoenix Senior Technical School was incorporated. The college has a history of 71 years. The Guangxin Campus of the college covers an area of 502.8 acres, with a building area of 149,000 square meters. It has more than 70 experimental training rooms of various types, with a total value of teaching instruments and equipment reaching 30.32 million yuan, a library with a collection of 163,000 books, and 32 off-campus internship bases. The college has more than 14,000 students of various types and more than 600 faculty and staff, including 323 full-time teachers, 147 with master's degrees or above, and 105 professors and associate professors. Each major has 1-2 professional leaders, 8 provincial backbone teachers, and 12 provincial teaching masters, provincial excellent teams and provincial quality courses. The college has 7 secondary colleges including the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Electronics and Automation, the School of Big Data, the School of Culture, Art and Tourism, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, the School of Finance and Trade, and the School of Emergency Management, as well as 2 affiliated schools including the Jiangxi Phoenix Senior Technical School and Shangrao Vocational School. It offers 37 specialized majors including applied electronic technology, big data technology, new energy vehicle technology, industrial robot technology, 1 provincial specialty major, 2 provincial modern apprenticeship pilot majors, 2 college-level high-level professional groups, and 5 college-level specialty majors. The college will focus on building four major professional clusters of electronic information technology, optical manufacturing, emergency management, and new energy vehicles. Among them, the electronic information technology professional group has been listed as one of the 50 provincial high-level professional groups in Jiangxi Province, achieving a zero breakthrough since its establishment. On March 24, 2023, it will cooperate with the Belarusian State University of Technology to run a school, opening a new chapter in international exchange. In order to rapidly expand the social influence of the college, the college thinks what the enterprises think and what the enterprises are anxious about, and solves the pain points of difficulty in recruiting and employing workers for enterprises. Since July 2022, the college has successively carried out order training with more than 30 key enterprises in Shangrao, including Naipu, Yizhou, Fushit, Jiangxi Copper, Rainbow, Cunjin, Geely, and Ai Chi, responding to Shangrao's strategy of building a "manufacturing strong city" and creating a "regional center".
