Shanwei Vocational and Technical College is located in the beautiful coastal city of eastern Guangdong, Shanwei City, Guangdong Province. It is a public general college of higher learning founded by the Shanwei Municipal People's Government, approved by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, and registered by the Ministry of Education of China. The school follows the school-running philosophy of "people-oriented, serving the society, connotation development, and highlighting characteristics", focusing on the quality of talent training and the comprehensive and harmonious development of students. The school has 9 secondary colleges: Marine College, Engineering College, Humanities College, Art College, Management College, Economics and Trade College, Teacher Education College, Public Teaching College, and Marxism College. There are 10,039 full-time students and 654 faculty and staff, including 451 full-time teachers, 24 professors (senior), 85 associate professors (deputy senior), 56 doctors, 269 masters, and 221 dual-qualified teachers. The school actively builds a collaborative innovation platform of "two institutes and two stations", and cooperates with the Shanwei Science and Technology Bureau and the Shanwei Ocean and Fisheries Bureau to establish the Shanwei Innovation Industrial Design Institute and the Shanwei Marine Industry Research Institute.
