School motto: Mingde Hongyi Seeking Truth and Practice, Shanxi General Aviation Vocational and Technical College is a public full-time higher vocational and technical college, jointly organized and managed by the People's Government of Shanxi Province and the People's Government of Datong City, and its business work is subject to inspection and guidance by the Provincial Department of Education. The college is positioned as a higher vocational college, mainly training skilled general aviation talents at the junior college level. The college is an independent pilot unit for the construction of the "one-stop" student community comprehensive management model of the Ministry of Education, a governing unit of the National Industrial UAV Industry Industry-Education Integration Community, a Shanxi Science Popularization Education Base (2021-2025), the first batch of key construction training bases for industry-education integration in Shanxi Province, and the Standing Director Unit of the China Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) in Shanxi Province, AOPA-certified civil UAV pilot training institutions, and members of the Expert Committee of the Shanxi General Aviation Industry Alliance, Advanced Schools of Shanxi Civilized Campus, the first batch of provincial labor education practice bases for primary, secondary and college students, pilot units for pre-recruitment and pre-reserve of military personnel in Shanxi Province, and winners of the May 1st Labor Award in Datong City. The college covers a total area of 556 acres, with a total building area of nearly 230,000 square meters. The total value of teaching and research equipment is nearly 48 million yuan, with 141,000 books and 4.63 million digital resources. The college insists on running schools with high starting points and high standards. Lin Zuoming, chairman of the Chinese Society of Aeronautics, is specially appointed as the honorary dean, and Wu Guanghui, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chief designer of C919, is appointed as the director of the technical committee. The college pays attention to selecting deans from first-class domestic key universities such as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The current dean, Yan Lei, has been engaged in civil aviation education and industry management for a long time. He has served as the dean of the Flight School of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Industry, and the general manager of Asset Management Co., Ltd. The college currently has 185 faculty and staff, including 121 with a master's degree or above. In addition, dozens of high-level teachers have been hired from well-known universities and enterprises. The college plans to run 6,000 people, and currently has 4,928 students. The college focuses on the layout of four departments, including the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, the Department of Aviation Transportation, the Department of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and the Department of Information Technology, to form a relatively complete general aviation vocational and technical professional system. The college currently offers 13 majors, including drone application technology, aviation ground equipment maintenance, general aviation flight technology, civil aviation transportation services, helicopter driving technology, general aircraft maintenance, flight attendants, civil aviation safety technology management, intelligent electromechanical technology, industrial software development technology, additive manufacturing technology, aircraft electromechanical equipment maintenance, and airport operation services and management. It is currently demonstrating the establishment of 6 new majors, including modern logistics management, drone mapping technology, intelligent robot technology, artificial intelligence technology application, big data technology, and cloud computing application technology. Through the integration of industry and education, school-enterprise cooperation and other means, it has signed cooperation and development agreements with more than 30 enterprises and units, including Datong Economic Development Zone, Shanxi General Aviation Group, JD Cloud Datong E-commerce Ecological Industrial Park, Jiangsu Borderless Aviation Development Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Dingchen International Logistics Co., Ltd., Beiyue Airport, Datong Light Flying, Datong Changying Bee Aircraft Company, and Datong Big Data Smart Service Industry-Education Association, inviting enterprises to participate in professional construction and teaching management to ensure the quality of talent training in all aspects.
