Shanxi Institute of Electronic Science and Technology is a provincial public engineering undergraduate college converted from the Modern College of Arts and Sciences of Shanxi Normal University. It was established on November 21, 2023 with the approval of the Ministry of Education and on December 15, 2023 by the People's Government of Shanxi Province. It is led by the provincial government and managed by the Provincial Department of Education, and is jointly built by the province and the city. The campus currently covers an area of 1,208 acres and a building area of more than 450,000 square meters. The school has gradually built a discipline and professional system with electronic information disciplines as its characteristics, and multi-disciplinary cross-integration and cluster development of science, engineering, literature, management, art, and history. There are 30 majors, including 22 science and engineering majors. The school focuses on the goal of cultivating applied talents, determines majors according to industrial needs, and changes content according to technical methods to form a new talent training model. The total investment in teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment has reached 120 million yuan, with 155 teaching experimental training rooms and a total of 712,396 books; an engineering innovation training center with a construction area of 9,912.55 square meters has been built, including 16 internship and training workshops. It has jointly built 5 laboratories with Jinnan Iron and Steel Group and other enterprises, and has attracted more than 20 million yuan in funds. The school implements the strategy of strengthening the school with talents. There are 279 full-time teachers, including 49 doctoral students and 230 master's students; 19 people have senior professional and technical positions, 9 people have deputy senior professional and technical positions; 6 doctoral supervisors and 23 master's supervisors. The school strengthens the construction of academic innovation teams and creates an application-oriented scientific and technological innovation platform. It has jointly applied for and successfully obtained approval for the "1331 Project" of Shanxi Higher Education-Metal Materials Intelligent Forming Industry College with Jinnan Iron and Steel, Jianbang Group, and Huaxiang Group; successfully obtained approval for the Shanxi Natural Science Laboratory Platform-Advanced Metal Low-carbon Manufacturing and Pollutant Control Laboratory; and jointly built an industry-education integration training base with Taiyuan University of Science and Technology-Linfen Branch of Shanxi High-end Equipment Intelligent Manufacturing Industry-Education Integration Training Base. 67 scientific research projects of various levels and types were approved, including 1 National Natural Science Foundation of China general project; 1 sub-project of the "Unveiling the List and Leading the Leader" project of the Shanxi Provincial Science and Technology Major Special Project; 4 basic research projects of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology; 1 provincial philosophy and social science planning project. The school deepens the integration of industry and education, actively connects with regional social and economic development, and holds a series of social enterprise service activities such as "Doctor Expert Enterprise Tour", "Doctor Expert Enterprise Tour First Batch Signing Ceremony", and "Doctor Expert Enterprise Tour Look Back and Continue to Do", covering 17 counties and cities in Linfen City and 65 key enterprises in Linfen Economic Development Zone, aiming at the needs of enterprise development, conquering key core technologies, and leading 76 projects to land, with a contract fund of 11.3316 million yuan. The school will earnestly strengthen party building, fully implement the party's education policy, adhere to the socialist direction of running schools, implement the fundamental task of establishing morality and cultivating people, focus on regional high-quality transformation and development, focus on cultivating application-oriented and compound talents serving regional economic and social development, and enhance the main position of electronic information disciplines and majors, with the goal of building the school into a distinctive high-level application-oriented undergraduate university, and make greater contributions to the high-quality development of our province.
