Shanxi Institute of Technology is a provincial public full-time science and engineering undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. In accordance with the deployment of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, and with the strong support of the Shuozhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, the school was officially established on June 3, 2021. The campus is planned to cover an area of 1,277.9 acres, and the scale of full-time undergraduate students is tentatively set at 12,000, recruiting students from 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country. There are currently 5,862 students. 3,500 students will be enrolled in 2021; 4,300 students will be enrolled in 2022. The school actively explores the innovation of talent training models for applied universities, adheres to the characteristic development model of "universities + industrial research institutes + leading enterprises/industries", and takes the construction of modern industrial colleges as a starting point. It has determined the characteristics of engineering, intelligent, and management-oriented talent training, and has basically formed a secondary industrial college setting model that is connected with the emerging industrial clusters in our province and the economic and social development needs of Shuozhou. The school regards the construction of the teaching staff as the first strategy for the development of the school. By holding special talent recruitment fairs inside and outside the province, recruitment defense meetings for deans of secondary colleges, "one issue, one discussion" for top talents, "one person, one policy" and open recruitment of public institutions, the school has opened up the road to talent and recruited talents from all over the world. As of September 2022, the school has a total of 303 faculty and staff, including 171 full-time teachers. The school currently has 23 talents with doctoral degrees, 33 talents with associate senior titles and above, and 20 high-level talents of various types have been flexibly introduced. The school is positioned as "based in Shanxi, facing the whole country, and doing a good job in Shuozhou". In line with the needs of Shuozhou's economic and social development, the school has strengthened collaborative innovation in teacher training, scientific and technological development, and social services, and carried out a series of high-level services such as targeted technical research, scientific research, and industrial personnel training. In the past year since its establishment, the school has been approved for one "1331 Project" quality improvement and efficiency enhancement project of the Shanxi Provincial Department of Education; 49 teaching reform and innovation projects of Shanxi Higher Education Institutions; 12 scientific and technological innovation plan projects of Shanxi Higher Education Institutions; 5 scientific and technological achievements have been transformed in the province; more than 5,000 people have been trained for institutions and enterprises, effectively serving the local humanities, social and economic development, and forming a good situation of resonance between the city and the school.
