Shanxi Youth Vocational College was formerly the Youth League School of Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, which was founded in 1950. It has jointly organized adult higher education since 1983. In 1994, Shanxi Youth Management Cadre College was established to independently undertake adult higher education. In 2000, with the approval of the Provincial Department of Education, it began to undertake higher vocational education as a teaching point. In 2011, it was registered with the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and approved by the People's Government of Shanxi Province. It was renamed Shanxi Youth Vocational College and officially undertook higher vocational education. At the end of that year, the school was moved from Qingnian Road to the current Shanxi Transformation Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone. The college currently has two campuses, including the Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone Campus and the Qingnian Road Campus. The main campus is located in the Shanxi Transformation Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone. The total area of the campus is 214,850.01 square meters (of which the Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone Campus covers an area of 199,988.4 square meters and the Qingnian Road Campus covers an area of 14,861.61 square meters). The Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone Campus has a building and structure area of 132,185.07 square meters, including: 4 teaching buildings, 3 training buildings, 1 comprehensive teaching building, 5 student apartments, 4 teacher apartments, 1 library complex building, 1 office building, and a student canteen. The green area is more than 50,000 square meters. The college is equipped with various classrooms, training rooms, electronic reading rooms, academic lecture halls, multi-functional auditoriums, etc. The college's assets total about 990 million yuan. The college has 5,074 registered students. The college has a staff of 135, including 2 leaders (deputy department level) and 5 deputy leaders (director level), 9 party and government agencies, 2 mass organizations, 3 teaching auxiliary agencies, 8 teaching institutions (Department of Computer and Information Engineering, Department of Art Design Engineering, Department of Management Engineering, Department of Finance and Economics, Department of Social Work, School of Marxism, Basic Department, School of Education and Training), 30 majors (including 1 national key major, 5 provincial key and key majors, 4 provincial key training bases, and 31 "1+X certificate system pilots").
