Shijiazhuang Railway Vocational and Technical College is located in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province. It is a provincial public full-time general college with fine traditions. In 2010, it was identified as a national demonstrative higher vocational college; in 2019, it was identified as a national high-quality higher vocational college; in the same year, it was selected as a high-level professional group construction unit of the "China's Characteristic High-level Vocational School and Professional Construction Plan". The college was founded in September 1950 and has a 73-year history of running schools. It was formerly the Finance and Materials Department of the Engineering College of the Railway Corps of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. It was merged into the Ministry of Railways in January 1984 and transferred to the management of the Hebei Provincial People's Government in August 2005. It is now under the jurisdiction of the Hebei Provincial Department of Education. The college is one of the first pilot units of the modern apprenticeship system of the Ministry of Education and one of the top 50 colleges for higher vocational employment in the country. The Hebei Civil Engineering and Construction Vocational Education Group, led by the college, was selected as the first batch of national demonstrative vocational education groups (alliances) cultivation units. The college currently has two campuses, Sishuichang Road and Xuefu Road. The new campus, which was approved for construction in 2020, is located in Lingshou County, covering an area of about 1,000 acres and a planned area of about 350,000 square meters. It is currently under construction. The college recruits students from all over the country, and currently has more than 13,000 full-time undergraduate and junior college students, including more than 900 applied undergraduate engineering education pilot classes and more than 500 Sino-Russian joint training. There are currently 12 teaching departments (colleges, departments), including the Department of Railway Engineering, the Department of Architecture, the Department of Surveying and Mapping Engineering, the Department of Information Engineering, the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Department of Rail Transportation (Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering), the Department of Economics and Management, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Modern Services, the International Transportation College, the Department of Ideological and Political Theory Teaching and Research, and the Basic Department, and 57 enrollment majors (directions). The college has distinct industry characteristics, adheres to the school-running purpose of "facing the local area, serving Hebei, facing the industry, and serving the railway", actively connects with regional economic and social development and the "Belt and Road" initiative, serves railway transportation, urban rail transit and modern service industries, and solidly carries out multi-mode education such as secondary and higher vocational education, higher vocational education, applied undergraduate engineering education, and international cooperation in running schools. Cooperating with leading enterprises in the industry, the school and enterprises jointly carry out modern apprenticeship talent training, "2+1" targeted training, and jointly build a productive training base and a national professional teaching resource library, carry out in-depth teaching reforms, and comprehensively improve the quality of talent training, with remarkable results. In recent years, the school has won national and provincial teaching achievement awards for many times; it has 4 key construction majors of national demonstration schools; 4 national backbone majors recommended by Hebei Province in the Innovation and Development Action Plan; 1 national boutique major; 2 national first batch of modern apprenticeship pilot majors; 2 majors supported by the central government; 5 majors in international cooperation; 4 pilot majors in applied undergraduate engineering education; presided over the construction of 1 national high-speed railway technology professional teaching resource library; 5 national boutique resource sharing courses; 2 national curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses; 1 second prize in the national teaching ability competition; 1 national productive training base recommended by Hebei Province in the Innovation and Development Action Plan. The college insists on implementing the talent-strengthening school strategy, creating a high-quality and professional "dual-qualified" teaching team, and has a group of teaching masters with strong ideas, superb skills and well-known industry names. For three consecutive years, the admission score for independent enrollment in the major of transportation has been the highest in Hebei Province. In recent years, students have participated in various skill competitions and innovation and entrepreneurship competitions and won 2 national special prizes, 18 first prizes, 24 second prizes, and 42 third prizes; 7 provincial and ministerial special prizes, 67 first prizes, 98 second prizes, and 143 third prizes. The college graduates are "well-received by employers for their professional qualities, excellent professional skills, strong adaptability, and excellent innovative spirit", and the employment rate of graduates remains above 98%. Among them, more than 60% are employed by central enterprises or Fortune 500 companies such as China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., China Railway Construction Group Co., Ltd., China Construction Group Co., Ltd., China Railway Group Co., Ltd., China Hydropower Construction Co., Ltd., China Aneng Construction Group Co., Ltd., and China Communications Construction Group Co., Ltd. They are spread across the national railway lines and subways in Chinese cities such as Shijiazhuang, Shenzhen, Qingdao, and Luoyang, as well as Chinese overseas engineering projects. A large number of railway craftsmen and management elites have emerged, including Miao Chungang, a technical expert in the domestic subway field who was received by General Secretary Xi Jinping, Zhan Xiaoli, the winner of the "National May 1st Labor Medal", Cao Zhanwei, a "national technical expert" and "whole-rail technical expert", and Xue Ping, the only female rail driver in the Yangtze River Delta Railway, who are known as "young people holding up the rainbow". The college attaches importance to innovative systems and mechanisms, and cooperates deeply with high-quality enterprises to jointly cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents. As one of the first pilot units of the modern apprenticeship system of the Ministry of Education, it has joined forces with more than 30 companies such as Shijiazhuang Rail Transit Co., Ltd. to innovate the "dual-element dual-state, order-customized" characteristic talent training model; it took the lead in establishing the Hebei Civil Engineering and Construction Vocational Education Group to carry out talent training for the alliance-style vocational education group. In 2019, the group was rated as a national demonstration vocational education group; as one of the first batch of vocational colleges in Hebei Province to run a pilot school with a mixed ownership system, it co-founded the Shijiazhuang Railway Vocational and Technical College Kanglv Industry College with Kanglv Holding Group Co., Ltd. to explore the reform of mixed ownership and play a demonstration and leading role in the province. The college actively builds a high-level industry-education integration platform and conducts in-depth application research and technical services. The college has jointly built the Hebei Financial Intelligent Equipment Engineering Technology Innovation Center with Hebei Huijin Electromechanical Co., Ltd. and the Hebei Rail Transit Control and Management Application Technology R&D Center and the Building Structure Engineering Application Technology R&D Center with China Railway Construction Group Co., Ltd. and Shijiazhuang Rail Transit Co., Ltd. In recent years, the college has won 1 first prize for technological invention in Hebei Province, 2 third prizes for scientific and technological progress in Hebei Province, 2 second prizes for science and technology from the China Railway Society, and 1 Golden Bridge Award from the China Technology Market Association; it has undertaken the preparation and revision of 1 engineering construction industry standard and 1 provincial local standard; it has obtained 9 invention patents, 211 utility model patents, 53 appearance patents, and 10 software copyrights, ranking among the best in similar domestic colleges and universities. The college adheres to the international vision, actively connects with the national strategy, "brings in" and "goes out", and has established the "Shijiazhuang Railway Vocational and Technical College-Russian Jiaotong University Transportation College" (hereinafter referred to as the International Transportation College), which is registered with the Ministry of Education and the only Sino-foreign cooperatively-run school in Hebei Province; relying on the Sino-German Vocational Education Cooperation Project in Hebei Province, it introduces the German "dual system" teaching model, and cooperates to build three majors in construction engineering technology, logistics management, and rail transit.
