Shuozhou Vocational and Technical College is located in the southwest corner of the beautiful Shuozhou City, with Huihe Water Park to the south, Xishan Forest Park to the west, and Jinsha Botanical Garden to the north. It is a public full-time comprehensive higher vocational education school integrating industry, agriculture, commerce and medicine. The college recruits junior and senior high school graduates, secondary technical school graduates and secondary technical school graduates from the whole province. It mainly carries out secondary and higher vocational education, and takes into account various types of social vocational training. The predecessor of the college was the Shuozhou Agricultural School of Shanxi Province, which was founded in 1957. In the 60 years since its establishment, the college has trained tens of thousands of professional and technical talents and social management personnel at all levels for the society, and has made great contributions to the social and economic development of Shuotong area and even the whole province. Since the beginning of the new century, with the strong support of the municipal party committee and municipal government, in order to adapt to the local economic development, in 2004, it jointly established the "Shanxi Agricultural University Shuozhou Vocational and Technical College" with Shanxi Agricultural University, and enrolled the first batch of junior college students; in April 2007, it was approved by the provincial government and formally established the "Shuozhou Vocational and Technical College". It was filed with the Ministry of Education in April 2008 and officially enrolled in September. The campus of the college covers an area of 370,000 square meters. The layout of the campus buildings is reasonable, the facilities are fully functional, the natural environment is beautiful, and the cultural atmosphere is strong. The entire campus is divided into four functional areas: teaching area, living area, service area, and activity area. The total building area is 153,000 square meters, the green area is 150,000 square meters, and the green coverage rate is 43%, which meets the national garden city standards. It is a typical garden-style modern university campus. There are teaching buildings, libraries, biological laboratory buildings, industrial training buildings, student apartments, teacher apartments, restaurants, stadiums, sports and art centers, training buildings, guest houses and other buildings on campus. The college has 60 multimedia classrooms and 6 information-based teaching training rooms. The library building has a collection of 136,000 paper books and 20GB of electronic books. The college currently has 206 faculty and staff on duty and 169 full-time teachers. There are 2 national-level teaching masters, 2 provincial-level subject leaders, 32 municipal-level experts, 34 municipal-level teaching masters, and 2 scholars in the United States. The college currently has 8 party and government management agencies; 4 teaching auxiliary agencies; 2 mass organizations; 7 teaching business agencies, namely: Department of Energy and Resources Engineering, Department of Bioengineering, Department of Social Management Engineering, Basic Teaching Department, Secondary Vocational School Department, Medical and Nursing Department, Ideological and Political Education Teaching and Research Department. The college has a total of 23 higher vocational majors and 1 five-year consistent major. Among the higher vocational majors, there is 1 provincial specialty major, 2 central financial support majors, 3 provincial key majors, and 5 provincial demonstration training base majors. There is a large market demand for graduates in majors such as nursing, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, veterinary medicine, accounting, e-commerce, mechatronics technology, power plants and power systems, wind power engineering technology, and photovoltaic power generation technology and application, and the employment situation is optimistic. The college has 98 on-campus experiments and training rooms, and another 23 training rooms are under construction. The total equipment of the laboratory is 38.9 million yuan. There are 48 internship and training bases outside the school. The college has established 7 scientific research and social service institutions, including the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Research Institute, the Garden Research Institute, the Small Grain Research Institute, the Animal Epidemic Monitoring Center, the Embryo Transplantation Experimental Center, the Pet Hospital, and the Law Research Association.
