Sichuan Police College is the only full-time undergraduate college of political science and law in the province, sponsored by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government and jointly managed by the Provincial Public Security Department and the Provincial Education Department according to the division of responsibilities. The school began with the Public Security School of the Public Security Department of the Sichuan West People's Administrative Office established in 1950, the Sichuan Police Officer College established in 2000, and the Sichuan Police College established in 2006. In 2011, it was approved as a pilot unit for the training of master's degree students in police affairs, and in 2018, it was approved as a master's degree awarding unit. It is the sixth provincial public security college in the country to be upgraded to a bachelor's degree, the first to carry out master's degree education in police affairs, and the first school with the right to award master's degrees. The main campus of the school is located in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, covering an area of 452 acres, with a total fixed asset value of 576 million yuan, and teaching equipment of 260 million yuan. It has 129 laboratories, training grounds, and stadiums (halls) of various types. It has built 29 off-campus practical teaching bases with public security organs across the province, and the library has a collection of 1.031 million books. The campus is shaded by trees and has a beautiful environment. It is a provincial garden-style unit, a provincial best civilized unit, and a provincial advanced school for creating a national civilized campus. The Chengdu campus of the school is located in Shuangliu District, Chengdu, covers an area of 238 acres, and was put into use in September 2019. The school currently has 4,919 undergraduate and junior college students and 132 master's students; there are 488 faculty and staff, 307 full-time teachers, including 42 senior titles, 100 associate senior titles, and 109 doctors. Focusing on the three first-level disciplines of public security, public security technology, and law, there are 10 undergraduate majors in investigation, public security, public security management, drug control, criminal science and technology, traffic management engineering, network security and law enforcement, security engineering, food, drug and environmental crime investigation technology, and law, and 1 junior college major in police dog technology. The school has established high-level subject platforms such as the National Police Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, the National Virtual Teaching and Research Office, the Provincial Key Laboratory, and the Provincial Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center. Three disciplines have been selected into the Gongga Plan for the "Double First-Class" Construction of Sichuan Universities. It has 5 national first-class professional construction sites, 2 provincial first-class professional construction sites, 1 key professional cultivation site of the Ministry of Public Security, 5 provincial application-oriented demonstration majors, 3 provincial outstanding talent training programs, and 11 national first-class courses. There are 2 national teaching teams, 8 provincial teaching teams, and 7 scientific research and innovation teams of provincial universities. Among them, the "Tibetan Police Teacher Team" is the only "Huang Danian-style Teacher Team" of the Ministry of Education in the national public security colleges. There are 2 Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratories, 1 Sichuan Provincial Key Research Base for Social Sciences, and 7 Provincial Key Research Bases of Universities. Integrate existing scientific research platforms and teams, establish the Sichuan Police Science Research Institute, and activate the Sichuan Branch of the National Drug Laboratory. The school takes "casting loyal police souls, cultivating new police of the times, and serving public security work" as its purpose of running a school, adhering to the school-running philosophy of "political police building, law-based school management, strict academic management, and characteristic development", implementing the fundamental task of "establishing morality and cultivating people, educating police and casting souls", and closely focusing on the school-running goal of "cultivating loyal guards of the Party and the people". Adhere to the coordinated development of public security academic education, on-the-job police training and police science research, and strive to build a high-level key public security college with distinct regional characteristics. Over the past 70 years since its establishment, it has trained and sent more than 60,000 graduates to public security organs and political and legal departments at all levels, trained more than 80,000 students, and more than 10,000 heroes, models, and meritorious officials have emerged. It is known as the "cradle of police, the melting pot of heroes, and the casting place of spirit". The school has successively won the honorary titles of National Advanced Unit for Spiritual Civilization Creation, National May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Committee, Sichuan Provincial Advanced Unit for Party Building and Ideological and Political Work, Sichuan Provincial Demonstration School for Law-Based School Management, Sichuan Provincial Advanced Unit for Popularizing Law, National Second Prize for Teaching Achievements, and Provincial and Ministerial First Prize for Teaching Achievements.
