Southwest Forestry University is the only independent forestry undergraduate university in western my country. [School History] The school originated from the Forestry Department of Yunnan University in 1938, and was founded in Kunming Agricultural and Forestry College in 1958. In 1973, it merged with the Beijing Forestry College, which moved south to Kunming, to form Yunnan Forestry College. After Beijing Forestry College moved back to Beijing in 1978, the school was renamed Yunnan Forestry College and was directly under the management of the former State Forestry Ministry. In 1983, it was renamed Southwest Forestry College. In 2000, it was adjusted from a university directly under the former State Forestry Administration to a central and local joint construction, with the province as the main management. In 2010, it was renamed Southwest Forestry University. The school has signed cooperation agreements with more than 60 universities and research institutions in 22 countries and regions; co-built a Confucius Institute and a Confucius Classroom in Mali, Africa. The Confucius Classroom won the Global Advanced Confucius Classroom Award, and the foreign head of the Confucius Classroom won the first batch of "Confucius Institute Director Memorial Medal". It was approved to cooperate with the South Ural State University of Russia to organize an undergraduate education program in mechanical and electronic engineering; cooperated with the Forestry College of the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada to build the Asia-Pacific Forestry College; through various study abroad programs, outstanding teachers and students were selected to study abroad to cultivate high-quality international talents. There are 198 large-scale instruments and equipment, with an original asset value of 9,861.320,000 yuan. The specimen museum has more than 500,000 specimens of various types.
