Suzhou Industrial Vocational and Technical College is located at the foot of Shangfang Mountain in Wuzhong District, Suzhou, on the bank of Shihu Lake. It is a municipal public higher vocational college approved by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province in 2003 and is one of the first batch of national "Double High Plan" construction units. The predecessor of the school can be traced back to the Jiangsu Provincial Suzhou Advanced Industrial Vocational School, which was established in September 1946. It is one of the earliest engineering vocational and technical schools established in Suzhou. The school passed the acceptance of Jiangsu Demonstration Higher Vocational Colleges with "Excellent" results in 2015, was selected as a construction unit of Jiangsu Province's high-level higher vocational colleges in 2018, and was selected as a construction unit of high-level higher vocational schools and majors with Chinese characteristics in 2019. In 2021, it was selected as the second batch of national demonstration vocational education group cultivation units. The school covers an area of more than 614 acres, with a total construction area of more than 210,000 square meters. It currently has 10 teaching units, including the School of Marxism, the School of Precision Manufacturing (formerly the Department of Precision Manufacturing Engineering), the School of Intelligent Equipment (formerly the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering), the School of Integrated Circuits and Communications (formerly the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering), the School of Artificial Intelligence (formerly the School of Software and Service Outsourcing), the School of Economics and Management (formerly the Department of Economic and Trade Management), the School of Architectural Engineering and Art Design (formerly the Department of Architectural Engineering and Art Design), the School of International Business and Tourism (formerly the School of International Education), the School of Automotive Engineering (formerly the Department of Automotive Engineering), and the Department of Physical Education. It offers 38 majors, more than 9,400 students, and more than 500 faculty and staff. Four school-level corporate colleges were rated as excellent corporate colleges in Suzhou.
