Suzhou Jianxiong Vocational and Technical College is a public full-time higher vocational college established in July 2004 with the approval of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government. It is named after Wu Jianxiong, the world-famous queen of nuclear physics who was born in Taicang, and is located in Taicang City, Suzhou. The region where the college is located has a developed economy, a prosperous society, convenient transportation, and a beautiful environment. It is the anchorage of Zheng He's seven voyages to the West, the birthplace of Jiangnan silk and bamboo, and the birthplace of Loudong culture. It is known as the "Jin Taicang, the Splendid Jiangnan". One of the predecessors of the college, Jiangsu Taicang Normal School, was founded in 1907. It has a long history and profound accumulation. It has cultivated a group of national pillars and tens of thousands of educational talents, including Hu Juewen, former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Qian Diqian, former vice president of the National Defense University, and Huang Shengnian, a nuclear physicist and academician. The college created and merged Taicang Radio and Television University and Taicang Industrial School to cultivate talents rooted in the industry, and has rich experience in school-enterprise cooperation, which has laid a solid foundation for the integration of production and education for the smooth transformation and cultivation of high-quality and highly skilled talents. The college adheres to the idea of "deepening Taicang, deepening dual-education, deepening innovation, and winning the hearts of the people" to create a "talent warehouse, technology warehouse, and service warehouse" for regional economic and social development, and strive to run a higher vocational education that satisfies the people. At present, the campus covers an area of nearly 700 acres, with a building area of 170,000 square meters, more than 7,000 full-time students, and 433 faculty and staff. Among the full-time teachers, teachers with senior professional titles account for 39%, and teachers with doctoral degrees account for 20%. The college has 1 provincial teaching innovation team, 1 provincial "dual-teacher" master studio, 1 provincial skill skill inheritance and innovation platform, 6 provincial "Qinglan Project" excellent teaching teams, 2 Suzhou Skill Master Studios, and 1 Suzhou Digital Skill Chief Technician Studio. 1 provincial teaching master, 1 provincial outstanding teacher, 5 provincial "333" high-level talents, 3 provincial dual-innovation doctors, 9 provincial "Qinglan Project" young and middle-aged academic leaders, 29 outstanding young backbone teachers, 8 provincial technical experts, 7 provincial deputy general managers of science and technology, and 23 provincial industrial professors. In line with regional industries, we have established teaching units such as the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, School of Biomedicine, School of Artificial Intelligence, School of Economics and Management, and School of Art and Design, and opened 31 majors such as mechatronics technology, pharmaceutical production technology, and software technology (including 4 "3+2" undergraduate majors and 1 "4+0" undergraduate major). We have established provincial Taicang University Science and Technology Park, provincial Sino-German International Technology Transfer Center for Precision Machinery Parts Manufacturing, provincial intelligent manufacturing industry-education integration platform, Suzhou Key Laboratory of Green Biocatalysis Technology, Suzhou Key Laboratory of Smart Home Wireless Sensor Application Technology and other enterprise incubation and technology transformation platforms, and cooperated with undergraduate universities and local governments to establish social service platforms such as Jianxiong Joint Research Institute, Taicang Enterprise United University, Taicang Qinlian Culture Research Institute, and Jiangsu Small and Medium Enterprises Research Institute, forming a regional technical application talent training system with full-time higher vocational education as the main body, applied undergraduate and professional master training as supplements, and social training as coordinated development. The college aims to build a first-class higher vocational college with distinctive characteristics. In recent years, it has continued to deepen the localization practice and innovation of "dual system" education, cultivate great craftsmen with international standards, and jointly established the first Sino-German training center in China, the Sino-German dual system vocational education demonstration and promotion base, and the dual system training college with the Shanghai Representative Office of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It has established the Taicang Training Center of the German Automotive Industry Association, the IHK Sino-German Teacher Capacity Improvement Research Center, the Industrial Engineer (REFA) Taicang Training Center and other German vocational education cooperation platforms, and has become a Sino-German Dual Vocational Education (VETnet) Global Network Partner authorized by the German Ministry of Education and Research, a German Meister training and global certification unit, and the rotating secretariat unit of the Jiangsu German Higher Vocational Education Cooperation Alliance. In 2020, the first local (Suzhou) standard for the training of dual-system vocational education talents in China was released. The number of textbooks selected for the "13th Five-Year Plan" national planning ranked 13th in the country. The dual-system education has successively won one first prize, one special prize and one second prize in provincial teaching achievements. Students trained in the school-enterprise dual system have good comprehensive qualities, strong technical skills and strong development potential. They are deeply welcomed by enterprises. It has become the cradle of German-style craftsman training in the Yangtze River Delta and an important support for the industrial agglomeration of Taicang's "Hometown of German Enterprises", and has created the "Taicang Model" for the integrated development of higher vocational education. Since its establishment, the college has passed two rounds of talent training level assessment of higher vocational colleges of the Ministry of Education with excellent results, and has become one of the model higher vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province. It has been selected as a construction unit of high-level higher vocational schools with Chinese characteristics in Jiangsu Province, and has won nearly 100 honorary titles such as Jiangsu Provincial Advanced Vocational Education Unit, Jiangsu Provincial Advanced Collective for Employment of College Graduates, Jiangsu Provincial University Student Entrepreneurship Demonstration Base, Jiangsu Provincial Civilized Campus, Jiangsu Provincial Secondary and Higher Vocational Teacher Training Base, National University Student Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Internship Base, National Youth Health Education Demonstration Base, Chinese Overseas Chinese International Cultural Exchange Base, China Innovation Education Demonstration Unit, National Employee Education and Training Demonstration Site, and the 2018 Top 50 Influential Asia-Pacific Vocational Colleges in the country. It has explored and embarked on the "Jianxiong Road" for innovative development of county-run higher vocational colleges.
