Taizhou University was formerly known as Taixing Rural Normal School, founded in 1941, and Subei Taizhou Normal School, founded in 1952. In 2002, the two schools merged to form Taizhou Normal College, and Taizhou Radio and Television University was incorporated in the same year. In April 2013, it was upgraded to a public undergraduate college. In May 2017, it was approved as a bachelor's degree awarding unit. In January 2022, it successfully passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education; in December, it was approved as a master's degree awarding project construction unit. In December 2023, it was transferred to a provincial public undergraduate college. Over the past 80 years, the school has accumulated the school motto of "Dun Shang Xing Shi Ming Ti Da Yong" and the school spirit of "Only Excellence, Sincerity, Knowledge and Action Integration", vigorously promoted the Taiyuan spirit of "taking root, cultivating, bravely breaking through and creating", and cultivated more than 100,000 outstanding talents of all levels and types. The school currently has two campuses, Jichuan and Taixing. The total building area is 399,800 square meters, with 375,400 square meters in Jichuan Campus and 24,400 square meters in Taixing Campus. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 124 million yuan, and there are 144 laboratories and training rooms of various types. The library has a collection of 1.2015 million paper books and 1.3782 million electronic books. The school currently has more than 800 faculty and staff, including 268 senior professional titles, 153 with doctoral degrees and 448 with master's degrees. There are 2 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in the province, 92 high-level talents such as the provincial "333 High-level Talent Project" and "Six Talent Peaks" training targets, and 69 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in the city and other municipal talents. The school currently has more than 12,600 full-time students. There are 12 teaching units, 35 undergraduate majors, covering 8 disciplines, and 313 off-campus internship and training bases have been established in cooperation with enterprises and institutions. There is currently one specialized and new industry college of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, five provincial key construction disciplines, one provincial industry-education integration practice base, 11 provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, one international talent training brand professional construction project, one provincial outstanding engineer education and training plan 2.0 major, two provincial industry-education integration first-class professional construction projects, 16 provincial first-class courses, three provincial industry-education integration first-class course construction projects, one provincial key construction laboratory, one provincial basic course experimental teaching demonstration center, one provincial university humanities and social sciences off-campus research base, one provincial excellent grassroots teaching organization, two provincial excellent teaching teams, one provincial excellent innovation team, 12 provincial online open courses, and 7 municipal industry colleges. Won 2 provincial teaching achievement awards. Approved 26 Ministry of Education's industry-university cooperation and collaborative education projects and 18 provincial education and teaching reform research projects. Since its upgrade to a university, the school has been approved for 30 national projects and 60 provincial and ministerial projects; published 2,652 papers, including more than 700 papers included in SCI, EI, SSCI, CSSCI, etc.; published 89 books; won 24 scientific research awards at the provincial level or above; added 387 patents, and approved 179 software copyrights. The school's talent training ability continues to improve, and students have won more than 2,000 awards in national and provincial competitions. Won 118 national projects and 787 provincial projects in the College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program; won 9 provincial "Internet +" college students' innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, 31 provincial "Challenge Cup" college students' extracurricular academic and technological works competition awards, and 7 provincial "Challenge Cup" college students' entrepreneurship plan competition awards. In the past three years, the implementation rate of year-end graduation destinations has been above 93.60%, and the school has been rated as an A-level university in the quantitative supervision of college graduates' employment work and an excellent unit for the provincial college graduates' employment and entrepreneurship assessment. The school has established friendly cooperative relations with universities and research institutions in the United States, Australia, Germany, Canada, Russia, Italy, South Korea, Japan and other countries and regions such as Macau, promoted inter-school exchanges between teachers and students, introduced high-quality resources from abroad, actively participated in the overseas courses of Jiangsu college students studying abroad with government scholarships, overseas cultural exchanges and internships in summer, carried out joint training and credit recognition projects with foreign universities, supported teachers to go abroad for exchange and further studies, and accepted foreign students to study at the school.
