Tangshan Industrial Vocational and Technical College is located in Caofeidian, Tangshan, a demonstration zone for coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei and a national economic and technological development zone. The Tangshan Municipal Government invested 2.2 billion yuan to build a new campus that is "ecological, digital, open and international", covering an area of 1,401 acres and a building area of 491,000 square meters. The college was founded in 1975. Its predecessor was the Tangshan Senior Technical School in Hebei Province and the Ceramics Branch of Tangshan Workers' University. It cultivates high-quality technical and skilled talents with college degrees and senior professional qualifications. For more than 40 years, the college has always adhered to the school-running philosophy of "looking at vocational education from the perspective of demand and development, and running vocational education with a tenacious and innovative spirit", adhering to the school-running spirit of "carrying heavy loads and forging ahead, persisting in innovation", and adhering to the school-running positioning of "rooting in Caofeidian, serving the new Tangshan, facing the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and radiating the Bohai Sea". It has successively integrated, merged and entrusted 15 enterprises and schools, forming the characteristics of "front school and back factory, industry-university integration; close to the region, open schooling", and achieved leapfrog development. Now it is a national "double high plan" construction unit, a national outstanding backbone school, a national high-quality vocational college, a national high-skilled talent training base, a national skilled talent training outstanding contribution unit, a national innovation and entrepreneurship education reform demonstration school, a national digital campus experimental school, and a national national defense education characteristic school. At present, the college's plan to upgrade to a bachelor's degree has been approved by the Ministry of Education and has been officially included in the "Hebei Province's 14th Five-Year Plan for the Establishment of Higher Education Institutions", and is making every effort to establish an undergraduate vocational and technical university. The college party committee won the honorary title of "Advanced Grassroots Party Organization in Hebei Province", and the college was rated as the National Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Excellent School, Hebei Province Advanced Collective, Hebei Province Civilized Unit, and the Provincial Advanced Collective of Party Building in Colleges and Universities. The college currently has 8 secondary colleges including Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Management Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Construction Engineering, Art Design, Information Engineering and Preschool Education, with 44 majors, 11 national key majors supported by central finance such as EMU technology, mechatronics technology, and industrial robots, and currently has more than 13,000 students. The college has 1 National Development and Reform Commission Public Training Center, 5 National Vocational Education Training Bases and 6 National Industry Enterprise Training Centers, the only demonstration academician workstation in Hebei Province, 2 national application technology collaborative innovation centers such as rapid manufacturing application technology, 3 provincial application technology research and development centers and 1 national skill master studio. The college has established 2 national vocational education and teaching innovation teams, 4 provincial teacher teaching innovation teams, more than 70 high-level talents with master's and doctoral degrees who have studied abroad, and more than 60 experts with special allowances from the State Council and the provincial government, provincial experts, provincial and municipal teaching masters, provincial second- and third-level talents, and the city's top ten teachers. The college took the lead in establishing the Caofeidian Industrial Vocational Education Group in Hebei Province, which is a national exemplary vocational education group. The college is one of the first national modern apprenticeship pilot units, and has carried out modern apprenticeship pilots in three majors: ceramic design and technology, industrial robots, and automobile inspection and maintenance technology, exploring the "Tangshan sample" of modern apprenticeship. The college has carried out exchanges and cooperation with colleges and universities in 21 countries and Taiwan, including Switzerland, Ireland, Germany, the United States, Russia, Singapore, and other countries, and has jointly established majors such as mechatronics technology, construction engineering technology, and ceramic design and technology with colleges and universities in Ireland, the United States, and Switzerland. There are more than 60 international students from Thailand, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Mongolia, etc. The quality of talent training in the college is constantly improving. Students participated in the National Vocational College Skills Competition and the 45th World Skills Competition and won many first prizes. A number of national model workers, national technical experts, national "May 1st" Labor Medal winners, State Council special allowance experts, Hebei technical champions, national and provincial ceramic art masters, etc. have emerged among the graduates. In 2021, 5 of the 46 "May 1st" Labor Medal winners in the province were graduates of the school. The social influence of the college continues to increase. The Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Chairman of the China Vocational Education Society, the Secretary of the Hebei Provincial Party Committee, the Vice Governor, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education, and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Secretary of the Tangshan Municipal Party Committee, the Mayor and other leaders visited the college for inspection and research, and affirmed the advantages and characteristics of running schools.
