Tianjin Bioengineering Vocational and Technical College traces its origins back to Tianjin School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which was established by the former Drug Administration Office of Tianjin Public Health Bureau in 1959. It is one of the earliest schools in Tianjin to train medical and health talents. Based on the main framework of Tianjin Medical Education Center, it was rebuilt from the Medical Workers University. With the approval of Tianjin Municipal People's Government and the record of the Ministry of Education, Tianjin Bioengineering Vocational and Technical College was officially established in 2006. The college is located in the West District of Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone. It is a vocational college that serves the pharmaceutical industry chain in Tianjin. Its majors cover the main fields of biomedical industry such as traditional Chinese medicine, chemical medicine, biological medicine, and medical devices. The college currently has two campuses in Binhai New Area and Hebei District, covering a total area of more than 200,000 square meters, with a total value of more than 50 million yuan in teaching equipment, more than 5,000 students, more than 200 faculty and staff, and has established four teaching departments of Chinese medicine, biotechnology, pharmacy, and medical equipment.
