Tianjin Maritime Vocational College (hereinafter referred to as the College) originated from Tianjin Institute of Science and Technology, which was established in 1962. In February 2006, Tianjin Maritime Vocational College was established with the approval of Tianjin Municipal People's Government and is now affiliated to Tianjin Municipal Education Commission. The college is located in Haihe Education Park, covering an area of 976 acres, with a construction area of more than 200,000 square meters and more than 10,000 students. The college is a crew training institution approved by the State Maritime Safety Administration, with crew education and training qualifications recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). It is the largest and most comprehensive academic education and training base for seafarers in North China, and is jointly built by the Ministry of Education and Tianjin Municipal People's Government as the "Binhai New Area Maritime Transport Skilled Talent Training Base". It has been approved as the first batch of pilot schools for digital campuses of vocational education by the Ministry of Education, the construction unit of high-level vocational colleges and high-level professional groups in Tianjin's vocational education excellence empowerment, the pilot school of Tianjin's vocational education smart education platform, the implementation unit of Tianjin's high-skilled talent training base construction project, and the smart education demonstration school of Tianjin's higher education institutions. The college consists of 8 teaching departments, including the Department of Navigation Technology, the Department of Marine Equipment, the Department of Shipping Economics, the Department of Cruise Tourism, the Department of Information Engineering, the Department of Engineering Technology, the Basic Teaching Department (Sports Department), and the Ideological and Political Teaching Department. It has built more than 100 on-campus training rooms such as the Water Teaching and Training Center and the Full Simulation Ship Maneuvering Simulation, and has built nearly 150 training bases with well-known domestic and foreign companies. Since its establishment, the college has sent more than 31,000 outstanding graduates to the society, and the employment rate has remained above 95%. In 2022 and 2023, the college's graduate employment work was excellent in the graduate employment quality assessment organized by the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission. Focusing on the national marine power strategy, the "Belt and Road" initiative and the "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development" strategy, the college focuses on the "six-precision" talent training model and has built 32 majors in six characteristic professional groups: navigation technology, ship and marine engineering equipment, digital port and shipping economy, cruise tourism, modern information technology, and special equipment. Among them, the major of International Cruise Crew Management has been identified by the Ministry of Education and other five ministries as a demonstration major in the transportation category of national vocational colleges; the majors of International Cruise Crew Management, Navigation Technology and Marine Engineering Technology have been identified by the Ministry of Education as key majors in the Higher Vocational Education Innovation and Development Plan; the Navigation Technology Professional Group and Cruise Tourism Professional Group have been selected for the Tianjin High-level Professional Group Project Construction. The college actively promotes the integration of industry and education, continuously expands the space for running schools, and jointly builds special equipment, digital port and shipping economy, CSSC International Cruise, Shipping-Tianhe Xinchuang and International Logistics and Supply Chain Industry Colleges with enterprises; takes the lead in establishing the Haiyun International Cruise Talent Training Vocational Education Group and the Tianjin Haihe Education Park Industrial Inspection Industry-Education Alliance; implements the new apprenticeship system with Chinese characteristics with Tianjin Port (Group) Co., Ltd.; cooperates with the international leading enterprise Royal Caribbean Cruises Group to build the first international cruise talent training center in China; and fully implements order training for navigation majors. In recent years, the college has hosted the Tianjin Vocational College Skills Competition and the "Haihe Craftsman Cup" Skills Competition for many times; in 2023, it successfully hosted the National Vocational College Skills Competition (Higher Vocational Group) Ship Navigation Safety Management Technology Competition and the "Ship Little Craftsman Cup" Vocational College Industry Skills Competition Cruise Operation Service Competition for the first time; it has undertaken nearly 500 scientific research projects at all levels and types, and obtained nearly 400 intellectual property rights such as invention patents and software copyrights. Developed the first "Non-self-propelled Ship Safety Management System Standard" in China; successfully developed a smart autonomous detection underwater robot; and carried out localization technology research on new technologies and materials for steel catenary risers (SCR) welding. A training pattern covering all training modules such as seafarer competency, seafarer professional and special qualification certificates, crew quality improvement, Caribbean cruise seafarers, and skills and business of land and shore personnel has been established, and nearly 100 training services have been carried out, and the ability to serve the society has continued to increase. The college actively expands international exchanges and cooperation, won the EducationPlus2023 Vocational Education Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Typical College Award, and was rated as an excellent case of "Co-construction of the Belt and Road" Vocational Education Cooperation Results". Actively promote the construction of China Tianjin Maritime Malaysia International College and Uzbekistan Luban Workshop, and help cultivate talents in countries along the "Belt and Road". Successfully held the Chinese Bridge online group project and actively promoted the construction of the "Chinese Workshop". Since 2017, a total of more than 150 international students from 20 countries and regions including Southeast Asia and Central Asia have been trained. The "Chinese Knot, Chinese Style" campus cultural activities enrich the second classroom for international students and cultivate ambassadors who know and love China. Exchanges and visits have been carried out with more than 20 colleges and universities in countries such as France and the Netherlands. Many key tasks of the college have been reported by media platforms such as Xinhua News Agency, Xinhuanet, People's Daily, China National Radio, China Education Daily, Tianjin Daily, and Tianjin Education Daily, and their social influence and reputation have been continuously improved.
