Tianjin Normal University was founded in 1958 and was originally named Tianjin Normal University. In 1982, it was renamed Tianjin Normal University. The history of Tianjin Normal University can be traced back to the establishment of Tianjin Women's School in 1904. In 1911, it was merged into the Beiyang Women's Normal School and became an important beginning of Tianjin Normal University. Tianjin Normal University is the inheritor of Tianjin’s century-old normal education and the birthplace of Tianjin’s basic education context. In 1999, Tianjin Normal College, Tianjin Institute of Education and Tianjin Normal University merged to form the new Tianjin Normal University, becoming the only normal university in Tianjin that provides high-quality teachers for basic education. Over the past 65 years, Tianjin Normal University has provided a large number of famous basic education experts and key teachers to Tianjin and even the whole country. It has created more than 300 current secretaries and principals of primary and secondary schools in Tianjin and more than 75% of Tianjin’s front-line basic education teachers, providing high-quality basic education in Tianjin.
