Tiemenguan Vocational and Technical College was approved by the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in May 2018. Its predecessor was Huashan Vocational and Technical School of the Second Division, which was founded in 1982. The college is a comprehensive vocational college integrating higher vocational education, professional and technical training, vocational skills certification, and adult education. It has the Open University of Tiemenguan City of the Second Division of the Corps, the Second Division Branch of the Agricultural Broadcasting School of the Corps, and the 32nd National Vocational Skills Appraisal Institute of the Corps. The college is affiliated to Tiemenguan City of the Second Division, and is guided by the Education Bureau of the Corps and the Education Bureau of Tiemenguan City of the Second Division in terms of business. The college covers a total area of 889 acres, with a construction area of 593,855.24 square meters, and implements "one college and two districts" management. The main campus is located in Tiemenguan City, covering an area of 673 acres and a construction area of 449,208.76 square meters. The branch campus is located in Korla Economic and Technological Development Zone, covering an area of 216 acres and a construction area of 144,646.48 square meters. There are 328 faculty and staff and more than 6,696 students. The college has 10 teaching departments, 29 higher vocational majors such as early education (state-controlled), network marketing, and electromechanical automation, and 6 secondary vocational majors. The college currently has 1 high-level professional group of the Corps, 1 Corps class teacher studio, and 1 Corps "dual-teacher" studio. Since its establishment, under the strong leadership of the Party Committee of Tiemenguan City, the Second Division, the college has been guided by Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, firmly grasped the orientation of "educating people for the Party and cultivating talents for the country", fully implemented the fundamental task of cultivating people with morality, focused on the overall goal of Xinjiang work, and in accordance with the school-running positioning of "based on the Second Division, facing southern Xinjiang, and serving Xinjiang", closely focusing on high-quality development, in order to serve the rural revitalization and development, the deepening of the reform of the Corps, the southward development strategy of the Corps, the integration of the Corps and the development of southern Xinjiang, and the regional economic and social development, cultivate talents, gather talents, and deliver talents, and build the college into a training and output center for vocational skills talents.
