The predecessor of Ulanqab Medical College was Ulanqab League Health School established in 1959. In 2009, it was upgraded to a full-time college approved by the Ministry of Education. It is currently the only medical college in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The school consists of two parts: the school headquarters and the affiliated hospital. The school headquarters covers an area of 350,000 square meters and a building area of 110,000 square meters. It is a garden-style unit awarded by the autonomous region and Ulanqab City. There are 8,178 students (including expanded enrollment), 330 faculty and staff, 350,000 books in the library, 87 laboratories, and teaching and scientific research equipment with a total value of more than 50 million yuan. The school takes full-time general college education as the main body, five-year higher vocational education and adult education as auxiliary, and takes vocational training into consideration. There are 17 majors in total, including nursing, midwifery, clinical medicine, medical imaging technology, optometry technology, traditional Chinese medicine, Mongolian medicine, rehabilitation therapy technology, pharmacy, medical laboratory technology, drug operation and management, preventive medicine, acupuncture and massage, traditional Chinese medicine, elderly care and management, infant and child care services and management, and health information management. Nursing is a key major of the school. "Maternal and child care", "elderly care" and "sports nutrition consultation and guidance skills" are the "1+x" vocational skill level examination bases of the Ministry of Education. The medical laboratory technology major has been approved as the first batch of characteristic majors of vocational colleges in the autonomous region. The school has been selected as the autonomous region's labor education practice base for colleges, middle schools and primary schools, and the autonomous region's education, scientific research and major engineering science popularization base. The school adheres to the school-running philosophy of open education, integration of medicine and education, school-enterprise cooperation, and collaborative education, and actively connects with the development of local industries. We have carried out joint education of medical imaging technology with the Inner Mongolia People's Hospital, and implemented the "1+1+1" joint education model; the optometry major has adopted the "1+2" order-based talent training model with enterprises such as Baodao Optical Store and Chaoju Eye Hospital; the pharmacy, drug operation and management majors have cooperated with Beijing Bio Jingdian Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Guoda Pharmacy, and Chifeng Renchuan Pharmacy to open "apprentice classes"; the inspection major has opened an "order class" with Dean Medical Laboratory. We have signed an oral care order class cooperation agreement with Dalian Chunhe Medicine, and carried out school-enterprise cooperation with Beijing Shuren Group, and signed an infant care service and management order class cooperation agreement. The health information management major has in-depth cooperation with three companies including Xiamen Zhiye and H3C Group in professional construction, talent training, and service to the medical and health industry. The training base has been built into an important incubation base for the smart medical industry chain and a training base for practical talents, and a training base and standardization training base for health information management majors at the autonomous region level have been built. We have signed a talent training cooperation agreement with the General Technology Group Health Care Company to establish a talent training base. The school takes advantage of its professional, faculty and practical training, and founded the Wulanmei Vocational Training School in 2013, carrying out vocational skills training, housekeeping services, maternal and child services, elderly services, community elderly care services, nursing services and other formats. It has won many honors, including the National Top Ten Family Service Enterprises, the National Lifelong Learning Brand Project, the National Women's Advanced Collective, the China Good Project Typical Case Award, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region's Top Ten Family Service Enterprises, and the Inner Mongolia "Grassland Talents" Project Industry Innovation Talent Team. At present, it has grown into the Inner Mongolia Wulanmei Cultural Tourism Group Company, which is a successful example of school-enterprise integration and has made positive contributions to the regional social and economic development. The affiliated hospital is a Class-A comprehensive hospital integrating teaching, clinical and rehabilitation. It has 23 clinical and medical technology departments, including orthopedics, burns, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, and ENT. Among them, orthopedics and burns enjoy a high reputation in the city.
