Ulanqab Vocational College is the only comprehensive vocational college in our city. The predecessor of the college was three full-time technical secondary schools, namely the Wumeng Finance and Trade Grain School, Wumeng Agricultural and Animal Husbandry School, which were founded in 1957, and the Wumeng Industrial School, which was founded in 1979. In April 2004, it became a full-time general higher vocational college with the approval of the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the filing of the Ministry of Education. In 2017, our college was rated as the first batch of exemplary higher vocational colleges in the region by the Education Department of the Autonomous Region. In 2019, it was rated as a high-quality school in the autonomous region and is one of the 10 high-quality schools in the region, which means that our college has entered the forefront of higher vocational education in the region and has also played a leading role in the development of vocational education in the city. The college consists of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Technology, the Department of Architectural Technology, the Department of Economic Management, the Department of Agronomy and Potato Engineering, the Department of Business Information Technology, the Department of Preschool Education, the Technical Secondary School Department, the Comprehensive Ability Teaching Department, and the Physical Education Department. There are 36 majors for enrollment, covering 12 major categories of higher vocational majors, including 7 autonomous region-level brand majors: animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, food processing technology, marketing, gardening technology, accounting, construction engineering technology, and mechatronics technology; accounting and mechatronics technology are 2 autonomous region-level specialty majors. Since 2015, the college has co-organized 5 undergraduate majors with Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Hetao College, Hulunbuir College, Inner Mongolia Hongde College of Arts and Sciences, and Jining Normal College. The college has two campuses, the main campus and Pingdiquan Campus, with a total area of 900,672 square meters and a total fixed asset of nearly 783.0134 million yuan. The school adheres to the strategy of "strengthening the school with talents" and vigorously strengthens the construction of the teaching staff and excellent teaching team. There are 543 faculty members, 395 full-time teachers, 149 senior titles (including 25 senior titles), and 150 masters or above. There are 338 full-time professional course teachers, and 176 "double-qualified" quality teachers account for 52%. The college is based in Ulanqab and serves Inner Mongolia. It closely focuses on Ulanqab City to coordinate and promote the transformation of development driven by industrial innovation, the scale of digital industries, the clustering of advantageous industries and the high-end development of traditional industries. It focuses on cultivating technical and skilled talents with comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor, and strong practical ability and innovative spirit. The college strengthens in-depth cooperation with enterprises to provide guarantees for students' teaching internships and full employment. At present, the college has established extensive cooperative relations with more than 80 companies. Among them, it has signed order training agreements with more than 10 companies including Beijing Guoan Construction Technology Co., Ltd., China Wind Power Group, ZTE Group Yuntai Internet Company, Sino-German Nohao, Beijing SF Express Company, Capital International Airport, Shenhua Group, and Shenzhou High-speed Railway. The number of orders is more than 800 people per year. Among the higher vocational colleges in the region, order training ranks among the top. The college actively connects with enterprises, goes deep into the middle of enterprises, understands the actual employment needs of enterprises, and works with enterprises to formulate talent training plans and training programs to solve the talent needs of enterprises to the greatest extent. There are 10,326 students on campus, and the initial employment rate of graduates in recent years has reached more than 85%. In recent years, the college has actively undertaken the city's labor transfer training, agricultural technician training, demobilized military training, women cadre training and other training tasks, with a total of more than 40,000 people trained. It has been named "the whole region's labor training demonstration base" and "Spark School" by the autonomous region, and "the whole region's poverty-stricken areas labor transfer training rain and dew plan demonstration base". The college has set up a scientific and technological team to provide practical technical training and technical services for the production process for rural and pastoral areas, helping Ulanqab City to fight poverty and rural revitalization. Since its establishment, under the correct leadership and strong support of the Municipal Party Committee, Government and Education Department, the college has entered the fast lane of higher vocational education development. It has achieved remarkable results in professional construction, teaching management, student management, graduate employment and other aspects. It has been awarded the "Advanced Employment Unit in the Region" by the People's Government of the Autonomous Region, and was named "National Workers' Education and Training Demonstration Site" by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. While the college has won honors, students have won good news in various skill competitions, winning 10 national competition awards, 33 autonomous region-level skill competition awards, and more than 50 municipal-level skill competition awards. At present, tens of thousands of teachers and students in the school are united and working hard to strive to build the college into a first-class, distinctive, high-level vocational college in the autonomous region during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and make greater contributions to promoting regional social and economic development.
