Fujian Normal University Union College was jointly applied for by Fujian Normal University and relevant enterprises and institutions. It was established in May 2003 with the approval of the Fujian Provincial People's Government and was approved by the Ministry of Education in December 2003. The college implements full-time undergraduate education. Since its establishment, it has been awarded the honorary titles of "One of the 100 Best Independent Colleges in China", "National Advanced Independent College", "China's Most Brand-Valued Independent College", "National Model Workers' Home", "Fujian Province Advanced Grassroots Party Organization", and "Fujian Province May 4th Red Flag Youth League Committee". Hundreds of years, the torch is passed on. The college uses the name of Fujian Union University, one of the predecessors of Fujian Normal University, inherits and carries forward the fine traditions of the old Union University, and forges the school motto of "Virtue, Encouragement, and Self-improvement". Relying on the high-quality educational resources of Fujian Normal University, the college actively explores new modes of running schools with new mechanisms and new systems to cultivate high-quality application-oriented innovative talents urgently needed by the society. The college is located on Xuefu South Road, Shangjie University Town, Minhou District, Fuzhou. The campus covers an area of nearly 1,000 acres, with the lush Qishan Mountain behind it and the Xiyuan River running through the campus. The campus environment is elegant and has a strong humanistic atmosphere. It has complete teaching, experimental, cultural, sports and living facilities. It is a "mountain and water school village" that integrates modernization, networking, humanization, ecology and gardening. Relying on the advantageous disciplines of Fujian Normal University, the college strives to create distinctive and brand majors. At present, there are 8 teaching units including the Department of Cultural Industry, the Department of Foreign Languages, the Department of International Business, the Department of Information Technology, the Department of Economics and Law, the Department of Management, the School of Marxism and the School of International Education. A total of 32 undergraduate majors and 2 international undergraduate education experimental classes covering disciplines such as literature, engineering, education, economics, law, management and art are offered. There are nearly 13,000 full-time students. The college implements the strategy of "strengthening the college with talents", makes full use of the flexible school-running mechanism of independent colleges, and builds a team of teachers with excellent quality, reasonable structure, dedication and vitality, which effectively guarantees the teaching quality. Among the more than 600 full-time teachers, more than 30% have associate senior titles or above; among the faculty and staff, there is 1 Fujian Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Leader, 2 Fujian Provincial Outstanding Teachers, 1 Provincial Teaching Master, and 3 Provincial Teaching Teams. The college actively promotes the level and level of teaching and research. At present, the college has established friendly cooperative relations with many universities in foreign countries and Taiwan, and was officially approved in 2009 to become the first independent college in the country to teach overseas courses in the British Higher Education Diploma Program (i.e. SQA AD Program). It has organized many groups of students to exchange and study in the UK, Australia, Canada and Taiwan.
