Weifang University is a full-time comprehensive undergraduate university in Shandong Province approved by the Ministry of Education. It is located in Weifang, Shandong, the world-famous kite capital and national civilized city. The school is a provincial application-oriented talent training characteristic famous school project construction unit, a provincial master's degree awarding project construction Class A unit, the first batch of support units for the construction of provincial application-oriented undergraduate universities, and a provincial civilized campus. It is a university jointly built by the Provincial Department of Education and the Weifang Municipal People's Government. The school currently covers an area of 1,543 acres (1.03 million square meters), with a school building area of 843,000 square meters, a collection of 3.2093 million books, and 42.5TB of digital resources. The school has a high-standard large-scale sports field and a 40,000-square-meter modern multi-functional gymnasium. It has a campus network that is at the leading level among similar institutions in China. It is a city node unit in Weifang area of China Education and Research Computer Network (CERNET) and a standing director unit of the National Education Informatization Council. The school currently has 26 teaching units and 74 undergraduate majors, covering 10 major disciplines including science, engineering, liberal arts, economics, management, agriculture, law, history, education and art. There are 3 national characteristic majors and comprehensive reform pilot majors of the Ministry of Education, 13 provincial first-class professional construction sites, 30 provincial characteristic majors, high-level applied project construction majors, applied talent training and development support plan majors, outstanding engineer training majors, and adult education brand majors; there are 7 national first-class courses, 99 provincial first-class courses, curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses, quality courses, bilingual teaching demonstration courses, and adult education characteristic courses, 5 provincial teaching teams, 4 national off-campus practical education bases for college students, provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, provincial talent training model innovation experimental zones, and provincial college student entrepreneurship incubation demonstration bases, 708 off-campus teaching practice bases, and 5 modern industrial colleges have been built in cooperation with Weichai, Goertek, Tianrui Heavy Industry and other enterprises. Among them, Weichai Industrial College was selected as the first batch of modern industrial colleges in the province, Tianrui Magnetism Levitation Industrial College was approved as the first batch of "Specialized and New Industrial Colleges" construction projects by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Goertek Technology Industrial College was selected as the first batch of modern industrial colleges in Weifang City; it carried out the training project for key special education teachers of the "National Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, and undertook 6 pilot projects in the national education system reform pilot zone. The school currently has two provincial key disciplines, optics and regional economics, and a provincial key discipline of cultural and artistic sciences, folk culture. It has established provincial key laboratories of multiphoton entanglement and manipulation, biochemistry and molecular biology, provincial engineering technology research center for fiber optic sensing and optoelectronic information, provincial engineering laboratory for intelligent vegetable planting equipment, modern vegetable seed industry provincial university collaborative innovation center, provincial industrial design center, provincial folk culture industry development research base, provincial university humanities and social sciences research base and Chinese excellent traditional culture inheritance base, etc. 20 provincial scientific research and innovation platforms and 29 municipal scientific research and innovation platforms. There are 62 research institutes such as the Institute of Quantum Information Technology, the Institute of Machine Vision and Pattern Recognition, the Institute of New Energy Vehicle Technology, the Research Center for Rural Rule of Law, the Beihai Cultural Research Institute, the Yuezhen Haidu Research Institute, the Weifang Financial and Fiscal Research Institute, and the Energy Conservation Research Institute, and the academic journal "Journal of Weifang University" is published publicly.
