Weihai Vocational College is a full-time public general higher vocational school with a long history and distinctive characteristics. It is located in the Science and Technology New Town of Weihai High-tech Zone, Shandong Province. It was formed by the merger of the former Weihai Radio and Television University, Weihai Education College and Weihai Industrial School. It was approved by the Shandong Provincial People's Government and registered by the Ministry of Education in October 2000, and moved to its current location in 2004. In May 2004, it merged with Weihai Technical College to implement one school with two brands. The school is one of the first 28 national demonstrative higher vocational colleges and a national demonstration base for the cultivation of high-skilled talents. In July 2019, it was recognized as a high-quality junior college higher vocational college by the Ministry of Education. In December, it was announced by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as a construction unit of a high-level higher vocational school with Chinese characteristics and a professional construction plan. The quality of education has been ranked first in the country. The school covers an area of 3,048 acres, with more than 23,000 full-time students, 1,290 faculty and staff, 12 secondary colleges, and 53 higher vocational education majors, covering 12 major professional categories such as equipment manufacturing and transportation. It has 1 national model teacher, 10 provincial teaching masters, 3 national teaching teams, 16 provincial teaching teams, 3 national technical experts, 5 provincial chief technicians, 8 provincial technical experts, 2 provincial technical skills masters, 3 provincial young skill masters, 54% of full-time teachers with master's degrees or above, and 337 people with senior professional titles, accounting for 30.1%. The school has 22 scientific research platforms at or above the municipal level, including the Shandong Higher Education New Technology R&D Center for Marine Resources Development and Ecological Protection, the Collaborative Innovation Center for Smart Circulation of Characteristic Agricultural Products in the Yellow River Basin, 10 national key majors, 6 backbone majors, 1 national high-level professional group, 5 provincial high-level professional groups, and 11 provincial brand specialty majors. It has carried out joint education with high-level universities in Russia, South Korea, Finland and other countries.
