Weinan Normal University is a multidisciplinary, applied local university with teacher education as its main feature. In 1960, the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government approved the establishment of Weinan Normal University. In 1963, due to economic difficulties, the establishment was abolished and changed to a teacher training institution in Weinan.
