Wenhua College is located in the hinterland of "Wuhan·China Optics Valley". Its predecessor was Wenhua College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, which was founded in 2003. It was approved as a bachelor's degree-granting institution in 2012, and was approved by the Ministry of Education to be converted into an independent general undergraduate college in 2014.
