Wenzhou Vocational College of Science and Technology was officially established in February 2008 with the approval of the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government. It is also affiliated with the Wenzhou Agricultural Science Research Institute. It is a public general higher vocational school at the junior college level and is run by the Wenzhou Municipal People's Government. The college inherits the fine traditions of agricultural vocational education and agricultural scientific research of Zhejiang Provincial Wenzhou Agricultural Technology School and Wenzhou Special District Agricultural Science Research Institute, and has a 73-year history of running schools. The college is a national high-quality school for cultivating talents for rural revitalization, a high-level professional group construction unit in Zhejiang Province, a co-construction unit of the Wenzhou Municipal People's Government and the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, one of the top 50 service contribution units of higher vocational colleges in the country, and one of the 100 excellent colleges in the student development index of higher vocational colleges. It is the first batch of national model branch cultivation units of the Ministry of Education, the first batch of national new professional farmer cultivation demonstration bases, the national Sino-German farmer training cooperation pilot units, the national advanced units of innovation and entrepreneurship education in higher vocational colleges, the national advanced units of scientific research in higher vocational colleges, the first batch of provincial modern apprenticeship pilot units, the provincial mass entrepreneurship and innovation demonstration base, the provincial production-education integration demonstration base of Zhejiang universities, the provincial entrepreneurship incubation demonstration base, the advanced unit of Zhejiang science and technology commissioners, the 4A safe campus in Zhejiang Province, the garden-style unit in Zhejiang Province, the water-saving unit in Zhejiang Province, and the first batch of Wenzhou civilized campuses. The college covers an area of 1,700 acres (including Wenzhou Seed and Seedling Science and Technology Park), with a construction area of 290,000 square meters, and has teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment with a total value of 129 million yuan, 770,000 paper books in the collection, 950,000 electronic books, and 12 professional databases of various types. There are 6 secondary colleges (departments) including the College of Agriculture and Biotechnology, the College of Landscape and Water Conservancy Engineering, the College of Animal Science, the College of Economics and Trade Management, the College of Information Technology, and the Department of Public Teaching (College of Marxism), with 31 majors, including 15 agricultural majors. Focus on moral education and cultivate "smart new agricultural craftsmen". Deepen teaching reform and innovation, improve education quality, and rank among the A-level higher vocational colleges in the province in teaching work and performance assessment; win 2 first prizes and 3 second prizes in national teaching achievement awards, 5 first prizes and 2 second prizes in provincial teaching achievement awards. Focus on technological innovation and carry out on-site research and development. Historically, scientific research work has been commended by the State Council. Adhere to the development direction of applied scientific research, focus on the research and development and transformation of new technologies in the agricultural industry, lead agricultural technological innovation, focus on solving the problems of agricultural industry and local economic and social development, and strive to create a new highland for regional agricultural science and technology innovation and achievement transformation. Strengthen the construction of scientific research platforms, focusing on eight research fields such as seeds and seedlings, carbon sink health care, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, agricultural economy, and smart agriculture. There are 32 national and provincial and municipal scientific research platforms such as the National Agricultural Science and Technology Park, the Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Crop Breeding in Southern Zhejiang, and the Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center, and 17 physical research institutes have been built. In the past five years, 443 projects at or above the municipal and departmental level have been approved, including 4 national projects and 42 provincial and ministerial projects; 120 million yuan of external scientific research funds have been received; 45 awards at or above the municipal and departmental level have been obtained, including 5 provincial and ministerial awards; 16 new agricultural varieties have been approved and registered by the state, 7 new agricultural varieties have been approved and recognized by the provincial level, and 114 invention patents have been authorized. The overall level of scientific research work is at the forefront of higher vocational colleges in the province. Focus on rural revitalization and help achieve common prosperity. Actively connect with the rural revitalization strategy, establish Wenzhou Rural Revitalization College and Wenzhou Common Prosperity Research Center, set up the first rural revitalization research room in the country, and selected 4 provincial common prosperity practice observation points to fully serve the creation of a model city for common prosperity demonstration areas. In the past three years, more than 20 research results have been approved by provincial and municipal leaders. Actively connect with the industry, set up a rural revitalization industry service team, dispatch municipal-level science and technology commissioners, and promote new varieties, new technologies, and new models in an area of nearly 2 million mu per year; set up Wenzhou Farmers College to carry out high-quality farmer training, hold nearly 200 social training sessions each year, and train nearly 20,000 agricultural practitioners. The farmer training work has been fully affirmed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and other national ministries and relevant leaders. Focus on openness and sharing, and expand foreign cooperation and exchanges. It is the deputy director unit of the Zhejiang Provincial Agricultural, Forestry, Animal Husbandry and Fishery Vocational Education Industry Steering Committee and the deputy director unit of the Modern Agricultural Vocational and Technical Education Professional Committee of the China Vocational and Technical Education Society. It cooperates with a number of secondary and higher vocational colleges, undergraduate colleges, agricultural science institutes, and local units to run schools. We vigorously promote the internationalization of school-running strategy, actively introduce high-quality teaching and scientific research resources from abroad, cooperate with New Zealand Northern Institute of Technology to organize the garden technology major, join the China-Cambodia Vocational Education Alliance and the China-Italy University Alliance, and carry out teacher visits, student exchange learning, teaching and scientific research cooperation and other activities with colleges and universities in Singapore, Spain, Belarus and other countries (regions); help the construction of the "Belt and Road", establish the "Uzbekistan Pengsheng Silk Road College" and be selected as the first batch of "Belt and Road 'Silk Road Colleges'" in Zhejiang Province, and take the initiative to join hands with African Wenzhou businessmen to explore China-Africa cooperation and exchanges.
