Western Michigan College of Guizhou University of Finance and Economics was established in May 2017. It is a Sino-foreign cooperatively-run school institution approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and jointly organized with Western Michigan University in the United States. It is also the first Sino-foreign cooperatively-run school institution in Guizhou Province that has introduced high-quality educational resources from American universities and undergraduate level. The college follows the school-running model of world-class universities, aims to "cultivate Confucian business talents with an international vision", and creates an internationalized education mechanism with international advanced standards through the development path of "introduction-absorption-integration-innovation", and constantly improves its own school-running characteristics; the purpose of the school is to share high-quality teaching resources, experience the atmosphere of all-English teaching, improve cross-cultural communication skills, and cultivate high-level management talents with international vision and the ability to participate in international affairs and international competition. Students who complete all courses and meet the academic standards of the foreign party and the degree requirements of both parties will receive a Chinese graduation certificate and a bachelor's degree in business administration from the Chinese and American sides. At present, the college has three undergraduate majors: accounting, financial management, and marketing, which are included in the national enrollment plan for ordinary colleges and universities. The first batch of 119 students were enrolled in 2017. The college currently has 1,087 students enrolled. The admission rate for the class of 2021 is 23.58%, and the degree-granting rate is 91.15%; the admission rate for the class of 2022 is 56.44%, and the degree-granting rate is 98.97%.
