Wuhan Institute of Physical Education, formerly known as Central South Institute of Physical Education, is one of the first independent full-time general higher physical education institutions after the founding of New China. It was established in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province in 1953. It moved to Wuhan City, Hubei Province in 1955 and was renamed in 1956.
