Wuhan Transportation Vocational College was founded in 1953. In 2003, it was approved by the People's Government of Hubei Province. It was established by merging the former Wuhan Water Transport Industry School, a national key technical secondary school, and the Wuhan Transportation Management Cadre College directly under the Ministry of Communications. It is an independent provincial public higher vocational college, affiliated to the Hubei Provincial Department of Education.
