Xi'an Aviation Vocational and Technical College is a national model higher vocational college, a national high-quality higher vocational college, and one of the 56 "Chinese-style high-level higher vocational schools" project construction units in the country. It is a full-time public general higher vocational college approved by the Ministry of Education with higher education enrollment qualifications. It is directly under the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education and enrolls students nationwide. The school is located in Yanliang District, Xi'an, a famous aviation city in China, and is located in a national aviation industry base. Over the past 65 years since its establishment, the school has adhered to the fine tradition of "honoring virtue and practicing, learning diligently and applying well", carried forward the Xihang spirit of "hard work, unity and dedication, cultivating talents, serving the country through aviation, and pursuing excellence", and cultivated a large number of high-quality workers and technical and skilled talents for the national aviation industry, forming a school spirit of "moral dedication, rigorous truth-seeking". The predecessor of the school was the "Yanliang First Aviation Industry Workers Technical School of the Third Machinery Industry Ministry" established in 1958, which was affiliated to the former Third Machinery Industry Ministry. In 1979, it was renamed the Third Technical School of the Air Force Aviation Engineering Department, which was affiliated to the Air Force. In 1985, it was changed to a full-time secondary vocational school. In 1994, it was renamed the Air Force Xi'an Aviation Engineering School. In 2001, it was transferred from the Air Force to Shaanxi Province for management, upgraded to a junior college and renamed Xi'an Aviation Vocational and Technical College. In December 2006, the school successfully passed the National Higher Vocational and Technical College Talent Training Level Assessment of the Ministry of Education with excellent results; in 2010, it passed the acceptance of the National Demonstration College Construction Project and was identified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as one of the 100 key "National Demonstration Higher Vocational Colleges"; in 2018, the school was identified by the Ministry of Education as a "National High-quality Higher Vocational College" construction unit; in 2019, the school was identified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as a project construction unit of the "China's Characteristic High-level Vocational Schools and Professional Construction Plan". The school has also been awarded the honorary titles of National Advanced Vocational Education Unit, National Advanced Moral Education Unit, Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Excellent School, National National Defense Education Characteristic School, Top 50 Vocational Colleges in China for Internship Management, Provincial Civilized Campus, Shaanxi Vocational Education Advanced Unit, Shaanxi University Advanced School-level Party Committee, and Shaanxi University Graduate Employment Advanced Collective. It has been identified by the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Education as the only air force and army directional training non-commissioned officers college in Shaanxi; it has been selected by the Ministry of Education as the Chinese project college of the "Hundreds of Millions of Exchange Plans for Joint Training of High-end Skilled and Application-oriented Talents"; it has been identified by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Education as a construction unit of the industry-education integration project; it has been identified by the Ministry of Education as a pilot college for the modern apprenticeship system; it has been selected by Shaanxi Province as a high-quality college project construction unit and a first-class vocational college construction unit of Shaanxi Province's general colleges and universities. The school currently has three campuses, South, North, and East, covering an area of more than 1,000 acres and more than 13,000 students. There are 9 secondary colleges, including the Aviation Maintenance Engineering College, General Aviation College, Aviation Manufacturing Engineering College, Aviation Management Engineering College, Aviation Materials Engineering College, Artificial Intelligence College, Automation Engineering College, Automotive Engineering College, and Sergeant College. It has also established 6 teaching units, including the General Education College, Innovation and Entrepreneurship College, Marxism College, International Education College, Continuing Education College, and Sports and Health Management College, 1 Aviation Manufacturing Engineering Center, Modern Vocational Education Research Institute, and "Three-dimensional Education" Research Institute. It has opened more than 50 higher vocational majors with complete categories and distinct aviation characteristics, such as general aviation, aviation maintenance, manufacturing, materials, management, artificial intelligence, automation, and automobiles, which are closely following the development of the times, covering aviation equipment maintenance, mechanical equipment manufacturing, general aviation technology, artificial intelligence technology, aviation management services, transportation marketing and other occupations. The school currently has 19 aircraft, including the Boeing 737-300, 184 teaching laboratories, with a total area of more than 100,000 square meters, 14,954 sets of experimental training equipment, and 297 off-campus training bases relying on the aviation industry. It has an aviation science and technology museum that integrates aviation talent training and aviation science popularization, a national key CNC training base, a "National Aviation Industry Base Training College" jointly organized with the National Aviation High-tech Industrial Base, and a "Sino-German Vocational Education and Training Center" established in cooperation with the Nuremberg Chamber of Commerce in Germany to jointly carry out IHK certificate training. The school has won 2 national education and teaching achievement awards, hosted 2 national teaching resource libraries, 18 provincial teaching achievement awards, including 8 first prizes; won the provincial first prize for scientific and technological progress; and ranked among the best in the country in national skill competitions and subject competitions; the aircraft electromechanical equipment maintenance major was rated as a national transportation professional demonstration site by the Ministry of Education. The school was approved to build 2 national high-level professional groups, 8 national key construction majors, 14 provincial key majors; 6 provincial professional comprehensive reform pilot projects, 2 national boutique resource sharing courses, 2 national boutique courses, and 2 provincial boutique online open courses. It has a well-equipped plastic track and field stadium and a college gymnasium. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 210 million yuan, with an average of 1.50,000 yuan. The school won 2 national first, second and third prizes in the National Vocational College Teachers' Teaching Ability Competition, ranking among the top similar colleges in the country. Relying on the locational advantages of Yanliang's aviation industry, the school vigorously recruits industry leaders, well-known entrepreneurs, corporate executives, chief technicians and other highly skilled talents to work part-time at the school. It has hired more than 600 professors and engineering technicians from universities, research institutes, enterprises and institutions, including Chen Yijian, chief designer of the Flying Leopard and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Huang Bingxin, a test flight hero, and Xue Ying, a national model worker and a national moral model, as visiting professors and part-time teachers. In recent years, the school has actively hosted various skill competitions at all levels across the country and the province, such as the "National Vocational College Skills Competition", the "China-UK 'Belt and Road' International Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Skills Competition", and the "Shaanxi Province 'Challenge Cup-Rainbow Life' Competition". To broaden the international vision of teachers, the school has selected a total of 110 teachers to participate in study and training in countries and regions such as Germany, Thailand, Cambodia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Taiwan in the past three years. The school has received 126 exchange students from Singapore Polytechnic for aviation maintenance internships, and has sent a number of students to participate in the "Summer Paid Internship in the United States for College Students". In 2019, the school was selected as the first batch of "Jingshi International Colleges" of the Ministry of Education's "Humanities Exchange Jingshi Project", and in 2020 it was identified as the construction unit of the "China-Foreign Humanities Exchange Talent Training Base Project in the Field of Intelligent Manufacturing" of the China-Foreign Humanities Exchange Center of the Ministry of Education. It has established an effective communication mechanism with industry enterprises and sister colleges, joined industry organizations such as the China Aviation Society and the Shaanxi Aviation Society, served as the permanent chairman unit of the "International Aviation Vocational Education Forum", the deputy director unit of the National Aviation Industry Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee, the vice president unit of the Higher Vocational Education Branch of the China Vocational and Technical Education Society, and the governing unit of the China Aviation Society, the China Vocational Education Society, and the China Machinery Industry Education Association; took the lead in establishing the Shaanxi Aviation Vocational Education Group and the Shaanxi Xi'an Aviation City Vocational Education Alliance, explored and practiced the coordinated development mechanism of the multi-participation of "government, military, business, and school", and gave full play to the leading role of the national "double high plan" construction colleges. The school adheres to the purpose of serving development and promoting employment as the orientation, and regularly holds graduate employment fairs. At present, it has formed a stable employment base composed of more than 500 enterprises such as Air Force aviation maintenance enterprises, China Aviation Industry Corporation enterprises, China Aviation Engine Group enterprises, civil aviation enterprises, aerospace enterprises, and equipment manufacturing industries. In the past five years, the employment rate of graduates has remained stable at over 97%. Every year, about 60% of graduates sign contracts with large and medium-sized state-owned enterprises, and nearly 40% of graduates sign contracts with AVIC, air force equipment maintenance, civil aviation transportation, aerospace technology and other industry enterprises. It has established long-term and stable cooperative relations with industry leaders such as China Academy of Engineering Physics, China Southern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, AVIC Xi'an Aircraft Industry Group Corporation, and the 5719 and 5720 factories of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Over the past 60 years since its establishment, the school has utilized its unique location advantages and distinctive professional advantages to train tens of thousands of high-quality technical and skilled personnel for the military and aviation industry enterprises.
