Xi'an Railway Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1956. It is a full-time general higher vocational college sponsored by the Xi'an Municipal People's Government. It is the first higher vocational college in Northwest China with a complete range of rail transit operation majors. The school is one of the first batch of national 1+X certificate pilot colleges, the second batch of modern apprenticeship pilot colleges, the national demonstration vocational education group (alliance) cultivation unit, the national vocational education teacher teaching innovation team construction unit, and the national party building work model branch cultivation and creation unit. It is a demonstration higher vocational college in Shaanxi Province, a high-level higher vocational school construction unit of Shaanxi Province's "Double High Plan", a cultivation and creation unit of Shaanxi Province's party building work demonstration colleges, and a comprehensive pilot unit for deepening the reform of education evaluation in the new era in Shaanxi Province. There are currently four campuses: Port Campus (Headquarters), Ziqiang Campus, Longshou Campus, and Lintong Campus, with a total area of more than 700 acres, a construction area of 330,000 square meters, and fixed assets of 1 billion yuan. The school adheres to the core concept of "running schools without derailment and educating people without leaving the truth" and the school motto of "adhering to morality, abiding by rules, strengthening capabilities, and practicing diligently", takes root in the fertile soil of the west, deeply cultivates the rail transit industry, actively serves advanced manufacturing, modern service industries and strategic emerging industries, and cultivates a large number of high-quality technical and skilled talents, providing strong talent and skills support for the economic and social development of Shaanxi and even the whole country. The school recruits students nationwide, and the college entrance examination admission score line has exceeded the undergraduate line for many years. At present, there are more than 15,000 full-time students. The college has 10 teaching colleges and departments, including the School of Transportation, School of Electronic Information, School of Electrical Engineering, School of Traction Power, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, as well as the Basic Department, School of Marxism, International Transportation College (Xi'an Railway Vocational and Technical College and Emperor Alexander I of St. Petersburg University of Transportation in Russia have established international cooperative education institutions), and the School of Continuing Education. A total of 41 higher vocational majors have been established, forming 7 professional groups with the characteristics of high-speed railway and urban rail transit majors, supported by power technology, civil engineering, equipment manufacturing and electronic information majors. Among them, the three majors (groups) of railway transportation operation management, railway locomotive operation and maintenance, and railway power supply technology are national backbone majors and high-level professional groups in Shaanxi Province. There are more than 670 faculty members, 445 of whom have master's and doctoral degrees, 190 professors and associate professors, and 315 "dual-qualified" teachers, accounting for 71% of professional teachers. Among them, there is one expert with outstanding contributions who enjoys the special government allowance of the State Council, two national outstanding teachers, four famous teachers of ordinary colleges and universities in Shaanxi Province, and 19 deputy directors or members of the National Vocational and Teaching Committees. Teachers of the school presided over or participated in 5 national vocational education professional teaching resource libraries and 8 professional teaching standards, and won 1 first prize of the National Excellent Textbook, 10 national planning textbooks for vocational education in the 12th Five-Year Plan, 4 national planning textbooks for vocational education in the 13th Five-Year Plan, 1 first prize and 3 second prizes of provincial excellent textbooks. Teachers won 5 awards in the National Vocational College Teaching Ability Competition, including 2 first prizes, and 39 awards in the Provincial Teaching Ability Competition, including 10 first prizes. The school won 1 special prize and 2 first prizes in the provincial teaching achievement award. In addition, the school has introduced high-level talents and implemented the modern industry mentor special recruitment plan, and hired more than 300 front-line professional and technical personnel such as great country craftsmen and skill masters from industry enterprises as part-time teachers. The school is closely connected with the rail transit industry, taking school-enterprise cooperation and integration of work and study as the entry point, implementing the talent training mode of "2+1" (2 years of basic theoretical learning + 1 year of on-the-job internship) of order training and alternating work and study, and forming a practical teaching system combining virtuality and reality with the characteristics of rail transit majors. There are 105 on-campus training bases such as the national rail transit "dual-teacher" training base and the virtual simulation comprehensive training base for rail train intelligent operation and maintenance system, and 183 off-campus internship bases have been established in enterprises such as China Railway Xi'an Bureau Group Co., Ltd. and Xi'an Rail Transit Group Co., Ltd. The acquisition rate of "double certificates" for graduates is more than 80%. Students have participated in various professional skills competitions at all levels such as the National Vocational College Skills Competition and have won more than 570 provincial and ministerial awards or above. Relying on the National Demonstration Vocational Education Group, the Ministry of Education Rail Transit Vocational Education and Technology Innovation Collaborative Center, the Ministry of Education Future Education Science and Technology Innovation Base and other platforms, we have improved the "four-level docking" mechanism of school-enterprise cooperation, and jointly built 5 industrial colleges and 7 high-level production-education integration training bases with leading enterprises in the industry. We have established 5 skill master studios, 4 famous teacher studios and 8 teacher enterprise practice mobile stations, jointly carried out talent training, curriculum development, technical cooperation, team building, etc., innovated the "five integrations of work and study" talent training model, and deeply promoted the modern apprenticeship system and the "1+X" certificate system, deepened the school-enterprise collaborative education, and built a community of shared destiny between schools and enterprises. The school has established long-term cooperative relations with more than 80 railway units and large enterprises across the country, forming a smooth employment channel. The initial employment rate has remained above 95% for 15 consecutive years, and more than 85% of graduates have been employed in state-owned enterprises such as railways and subways. It has been awarded the Advanced Unit for Employment of College Graduates in Shaanxi Province. The school trains 30,000 employees of all levels and types for government departments, industry enterprises, and society every year. The school actively serves the construction of the "Belt and Road" and the "going out" strategy of China's high-speed rail. It is the first among the higher vocational colleges in Shaanxi Province to establish a Sino-Russian cooperative school-International Transportation College, and cooperates with Thailand's Don Muang Technical College to establish the "China-Thailand Rail Transit College". It has successively undertaken the skills training of local employees such as Kenya's "Mombasa-Nairobi Railway", "China-Laos Railway", and "China-Thailand Railway", and established the "Belt and Road" rail transit talent training base. The school has reached agreements on the training of international students and overseas cooperative education with Pakistan, Thailand and other countries, and signed a joint training cooperation agreement with Beijing Jiaotong University and Chang'an University to establish a "Joint Training Base for International Students". At present, there are 5 cooperatively-run majors and 760 students, including 138 students studying in Russia, 27 students have obtained master's degrees, and 2 students are studying for doctoral degrees.
