Xiamen Ocean Vocational and Technical College is affiliated to the Fujian Provincial Department of Education. It was founded in 1920 by the famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Tan Kah Kee. It has gone through the stages of Jimei School Fisheries Department, Jimei Advanced Fisheries and Navigation School, Jimei Fisheries College and Fujian Jimei Fisheries School (national key technical secondary school). It is one of the earliest cradles for cultivating aquatic and navigation technical talents in my country. It is a national national defense education characteristic school, a Fujian civilized campus, a Fujian safe campus, a Fujian model higher vocational college, a Fujian model modern vocational college, an excellent school of Fujian Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award, a Fujian Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Creation Education Demonstration College, a National Natural Science Foundation-based unit, and a construction unit of the "Fujian High-level Vocational College and Professional Construction Plan". In the course of a hundred years of schooling, the school has taken "Sincerity and Perseverance" as its school motto, carried forward the spirit of Kah Kee, and cultivated a large number of high-quality technical and skilled talents for the development of the national and Fujian marine industries. Excellent alumni are spread all over the country and the world, and enjoy a wide reputation at home and abroad. In April 2000, Comrade Xi Jinping, then Governor of Fujian Province, wrote the inscription "Spring breeze and rain, peaches and plums fill the garden" for the school, and placed high hopes on the construction and development of the school. Wan Exiang, then Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and other national, ministerial and provincial leaders visited the school for inspection and research, and fully affirmed the school's construction results. In the 2023 Alumni Association National Vocational College Ranking, the school ranked 10th in Class III (Industry) of National Vocational Colleges, and ranked first in Fujian Province. The school currently has two campuses in Siming and Xiang'an, covering an area of more than 800 acres. It has 9 secondary colleges including the School of Navigation, the School of Marine Biology, the School of Marine Mechatronics, the School of Information Engineering, the School of International Business and Trade, and the School of Marine Culture and Tourism. It offers 43 majors such as navigation technology, port and shipping management, aquaculture technology, and international cruise crew management. There are 11,000 students on campus, and nearly 30,000 non-academic education students each year. It has built 177 on-campus training rooms such as large-scale ship handling simulators and various simulation training rooms, and 274 off-campus internship training bases. Among them, there are 3 training bases supported by the central government and 14 training bases supported by provincial finances. The total number of books is 155.760,000 books. The dragon boat team won the third place in the China Dragon Boat Tug of War Open and the fourth place in the Chinese Dragon Boat Competition Youth Men's Group. The sailing team won the China Cup Sailing Race, the City Club Cup Sailing Challenge, the Hainan Island International Sailing Race, and the silver medal in the university group of the 14th National Student Games Sailing Competition.
