Xiangxi National Vocational and Technical College is the only public higher vocational college in Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture, which was established in 2004 with the approval of the People's Government of Hunan Province and the record of the Ministry of Education. It was formed by the merger of eight state-level secondary vocational schools such as the former Xiangxi Agricultural School. It has a history of 64 years. The campus covers an area of 1,100 acres and a building area of 300,000 square meters. The school conditions have reached the first-class level of similar colleges and universities in the province and the excellent standards of talent training level evaluation of the Ministry of Education. The college currently has 721 faculty and staff and more than 13,000 full-time students. The college is a "double high" construction unit in Hunan Province. Among them, the ecological agricultural technology professional group and the tourism management professional group have been successfully approved as the A-level construction unit of the Chuyi high-level higher vocational professional group in Hunan Province, and the automobile application and maintenance professional group has been successfully approved as the B-level construction unit of the Chuyi high-quality secondary vocational professional group in Hunan Province. At the same time, there are 8 national-level professional construction projects and 20 provincial-level professional construction projects. The college continues to deepen the integration of production and education, and school-enterprise cooperation. It has established close cooperative relations with more than 120 companies such as Sany Heavy Industry, Beijing Kuaishou, and Shanghai Volkswagen, and has carried out in-depth collaborative education with more than 30 companies. The college took the lead in establishing a close-knit and substantive Xiangxi Modern Vocational Education Group, which promoted the construction of the modern vocational education system in Xiangxi, successfully established the Hunan Demonstration Vocational Education Group, and established the Hunan "Chuyi" Demonstration Vocational Education Group Construction Unit. Every year, the college trains more than 7,000 outstanding technical and skilled talents in modern agriculture, modern manufacturing, and modern service industries for the local and social sectors. The initial employment rate of graduates is more than 90%, and the average salary is 4,700 yuan after half a year and 7,800 yuan after three years. The job promotion rate is nearly 40%, which truly realizes "vocational education for life, employment for one person, and poverty alleviation for one household", and actively contributes to the regional poverty alleviation and rural revitalization. A group of outstanding graduates have emerged, including Peng Jifu, a local corn research expert in Xiangxi and a national "May 1st" Labor Medal winner, Peng Weiguo, a great shipbuilding craftsman, and Shi Linjiao, an online celebrity in Shibadong Village and an e-commerce celebrity. The college has successively won honors such as "National Demonstration Base for Labor Transfer Employment Training", "National Youth Entrepreneurship Practice Base", "National Advanced Unit for Directly Serving Local Economic Construction by Carrying out Science and Technology Poverty Alleviation", "Hunan Province Rural Revitalization Talent Training Quality School", and "Hunan Province Civilized Model Campus".
