Xiangyang Vocational College of Science and Technology is a public full-time higher vocational college established in May 2023 with the approval of the People's Government of Hubei Province and the filing of the Ministry of Education. The college is established on the basis of Xiangyang Technician College. It is located at the foot of Lumen Mountain in Dongjin New District, Xiangyang City, in the center of Xiangyang Science City, and directly opposite Xiangyang East Station (high-speed railway station). It is one of the top ten public construction projects in Dongjin New District identified by the People's Government of Xiangyang City. The college has excellent school conditions. The planned area is 1,008 acres and the building area is 360,000 square meters. In September 2015, the college moved in as a whole. The first phase of the new campus actually covers an area of 757 acres and a building area of 180,000 square meters. 700 million yuan has been invested in construction. Teaching buildings, training buildings, libraries, student apartments, student canteens and other teaching and living facilities are all available. The second phase of the project construction plan is to invest 850 million yuan, with a building area of 130,000 square meters, and construction has started. The college has a strong faculty. There are 400 faculty members, including 12 senior professional titles, 102 associate senior professional titles, 78 postgraduates, more than 21 provincial and municipal master craftsmen and technical experts, and 8 master studios. The college has a reasonable professional setting. There are 7 teaching units including intelligent manufacturing, electrical and automation engineering, vehicle engineering, computer and information engineering, modern services, economics and management, and public courses. The majors offered cover a wide range and are closely in line with market demand. There are 14 higher vocational majors, more than 20 secondary vocational majors, nearly 8,000 full-time students, and more than 10,000 vocational trainings at all levels and types are undertaken annually. The college has complete internship and training facilities. There are 7 on-campus training bases such as mechanical processing and automobile maintenance, 40 experiments and training rooms such as CNC lathes, CNC milling, and installation and commissioning of optomechanical equipment, and the total value of internship and training equipment is 120 million yuan. Relying on the construction and development of vocational training institutes, practical training centers, and skill evaluation centers, the college has formed a wide-coverage, multi-level, and multi-form vocational training and evaluation system covering employment skills training, pre-job training, skill improvement training, high-skilled talent training, new occupations and new types of work training, special operations training, entrepreneurship training, continuing education, and talent evaluation. The college has advanced school-running concepts. Adhere to the school-running model of "school-enterprise cooperation and co-education of talents", adhere to scientific management, advocate both moral and technical training, cultivate the spirit of craftsmanship, and serve the local economy and radiate the whole province and the whole country as the purpose of running a school. The college has achieved fruitful results in running schools. It has successfully hosted the opening ceremony of the audition of the large-scale professional competitive TV program "China's Greatest" (Season 2) jointly launched by CCTV and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the national finals of "China's Greatest - CNC Knife Master". It has hosted six provincial skill competitions, three Hanjiang River Basin vocational skill competitions, the Hubei Provincial Trials of the 44th, 45th and 46th World Skills Competitions, the Hubei Provincial Trials of the First National Vocational Skills Competition, the Hubei Provincial Defense Science and Technology Office "Military Industry Cup" Vocational Skills Competition, and Xiangyang City's related industry skill competitions.
