Xianning Vocational and Technical College is a comprehensive public higher vocational college approved by the Hubei Provincial People's Government and filed by the Ministry of Education after the merger of five schools. One of its predecessors was the Xianning Branch of Huazhong Agricultural College established in 1976, and the earliest one was the Xianning Finance and Trade Business Administration School in 1965. In 1999, it was listed as "the first batch of pilot higher vocational colleges in the province" by the provincial government. In 2022, it was approved to be a "double high" school in Hubei Province. Our school is located in Xianning City, Hubei Province, China's Fragrant City and Spring Capital. It is the geographical center of the economic zone of the three major provincial capital cities of Wuhan, Changsha and Nanchang. It is a 23-minute high-speed rail ride north of Wuhan. The Battle of Chibi in the Three Kingdoms and the Battle of Tingsi Bridge in the Northern Expedition took place here. It enjoys the honors of the most livable city in the country, China's forest city, China's charming city, China's health city, and China's top ten most growing and innovative cities. The campus covers an area of 1,086 acres. It is adjacent to Qianshan National Forest Park in the south, Longtan Wetland Park in the west, Xianning South Station of Wuxian Intercity Train in the north, and Qianshan Commercial Street in the east. There are three lakes and five mountains in the campus, which is a Feng Shui treasure land for learning and studying. There are 21,490 full-time students and 1,100 faculty and staff, including 310 professors and associate professors. Our school seizes the opportunity of national support for vocational education policies, and actively strives for the "Xiangning New Industry Public Training Base" and "Using Foreign Government Loans to Build Xianning Vocational College Industry-Education Integration Base" to be included in the projects of the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance, with an investment of 315 million yuan, and has built a number of high-level training bases such as intelligent manufacturing, accounting virtual simulation, health management, gardening, and preschool education. There are currently 1 national collaborative technology innovation center, 1 national skill master studio, 1 provincial key scientific research platform, and 2 third prizes for scientific and technological progress in Hubei Province. The school closely connects with the national development strategy and the emerging pillar industries in the region, and builds 7 professional groups including modern agriculture, intelligent manufacturing, finance and trade, teacher education, medical care and health, digital information and smart architecture. It has 42 majors, 19 national "1+X" certificate pilot majors, 5 national backbone majors, 10 provincial key characteristic brand majors, and 2 emerging strategic pillar industry majors in Hubei Province. Among them, big data and accounting and modern agricultural technology have been approved as provincial high-level professional groups. Since 2016, our school has kept in mind the original intention of "serving agriculture, rural areas and farmers", and insisted on cultivating "three kinds of people" rooted in the countryside (leaders of poverty alleviation, partners of e-commerce entrepreneurship, and successors of grassroots organization construction) as its mission, taking the integration of production and education as the way, taking the construction of agricultural professional groups as the guide, and taking the "one village, multiple college students" training plan as the starting point, it has built a high-quality college for cultivating rural revitalization talents with "advanced concepts, distinctive characteristics, grassroots welcome, and superior recognition". In the past five years, our school has trained 2,017 peasant college students for 905 administrative villages in the city, and trained 35,326 new professional farmers of various types. A large number of them, including black pig Xishi, yellow robe farmer, peacock princess, native chicken commander, curtain sheepherder, lobster king, biological elves, etc., are active in the mountains and waters of southern Hubei, interpreting the moving story of rural revitalization everywhere!
