Xilin Gol Vocational College was established in May 2003. It is a full-time general higher vocational college approved by the People's Government of the Autonomous Region and registered by the Ministry of Education. It was formed by the integration of 9 colleges and technical secondary schools in Xilin Gol League. Vice Premier Sun Chunlan, former Vice Premier Liu Yandong and other leaders have visited the college and affirmed the college's school-running work and achievements. The college campus covers an area of 1,609 acres and a building area of 438,500 square meters. There are 17 teaching units including the Department of Medicine and the Department of Grassland Ecology and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, and 51 higher vocational majors such as nursing and some secondary vocational majors. Practical training, books and materials can meet the needs of education and teaching. There are currently 16,077 full-time students. It has basically formed a comprehensive higher vocational college with higher vocational education as the main focus, secondary vocational education and cooperative vocational undergraduate education as the supplement. The college has successively won the "National Model Unit for the Creation of National Unity and Progress", "The Fifth National Huang Yanpei Excellent School Award", and "National College with Typical Experience in Graduate Employment".
