Xinjiang Agricultural Vocational and Technical College is located in the Wuchang area of Urumqi Metropolitan Area, the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt. It is a public full-time general college that offers higher vocational education. The college was formerly Changji Agricultural School, founded in 1958. In 1988, it was affiliated to the Autonomous Region Agricultural Department and renamed Xinjiang Agricultural School. In 2000, it was upgraded to Xinjiang Agricultural Vocational and Technical College. In 2008, it merged with the former Autonomous Region Agricultural Cadre School and integrated into the current Xinjiang Agricultural Vocational and Technical College. In 2006, the college was identified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as one of the first 28 "National Demonstration Higher Vocational College Construction Units" in the country, and passed the acceptance with excellent results in 2009. The college is the first batch of pilot higher vocational colleges in Xinjiang for "jointly cultivating applied undergraduate talents through higher vocational education and undergraduate education". In 2019, it was recognized as a "high-quality junior college higher vocational college" by the Ministry of Education, and was listed as a "construction unit of the Chinese characteristic high-level higher vocational school and professional construction plan" by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. It is an excellent college in the national higher vocational college teacher development index. It has long been ranked among the top agricultural higher vocational colleges in the country and is a banner of vocational education in Xinjiang. The college covers an area of more than 6,000 acres and has Changji Campus and Urumqi Campus. It has convenient transportation and is located within the 30-kilometer traffic circle of Urumqi International Airport and High-speed Railway Station. Wuchang is located in the center of the Eurasian continent and is the core growth pole of Xinjiang's economic development. There are four production-education integration training bases: "Digital Media Integration and Dual Innovation Base", "Agricultural Products Trade and Logistics Production-Education Integration Training Base", "Dongquan Modern Agricultural Technology Demonstration Training Base", and "Modern Seed Industry and Animal Husbandry Production-Education Integration Training Base". We have built productive training bases such as animal hospitals and seed quality testing centers, and more than 1,000 "dual bases" for on-the-job internships and employment outside the school.
