Xinjiang Energy Vocational and Technical College was established in July 2005 with the approval of the People's Government of the Autonomous Region and was filed with the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It is a full-time higher vocational college with the qualification of independently issuing academic diplomas. The college is located in the scenic Dabancheng District of Urumqi City, with convenient transportation, beautiful scenery, snow-capped canyons, grassland wetlands and pleasant climate. The college has complete infrastructure, including teaching buildings, experimental training buildings, libraries, cultural exchange centers, student apartments, and student canteens; indoor and outdoor sports facilities are complete. The college currently has 6,867 students and 406 full-time teachers. It has established a teaching staff with high moral character, advanced teaching concepts, strong reform awareness, high education and teaching level, strong technical practice ability, combination of full-time and part-time teachers, and reasonable structure. On August 27, 2012, after research by the Education Working Committee of the Autonomous Region Party Committee, the college was approved to establish a party committee. The college currently has 143 party members among teachers and students and 8 party branches, achieving full coverage of grassroots organizations. In December 2015, the Autonomous Region Public Institution Registration and Administration Bureau approved the college as a public institution, which is affiliated to the Autonomous Region Education Department. With the strong support of the Urumqi Municipal Government and the Education Working Committee of the Autonomous Region Party Committee and the Education Department, the "Xinjiang Energy Vocational and Technical College Ganquanbao Campus (Industry-Education Integration Training Base) Project" was established in the national-level Urumqi Ganquanbao Economic and Technological Development Zone, and more than 580 acres of land was allocated for education. The guiding ideology of the industry-education integration training base is "to create classics with art, to reflect characteristics with creativity, and to inherit the future with technology".
